"The camera isn't that great!" ???
I've seen this stated all too often in this thread yet I do not understand.
* Does it not take photos in 1/3/5MP resolutions?
* Does it not record videos in QVGA @ 30fps ?
* Does it not produce incredible photos better than most if not ALL the competition (N95 variants, LG Viewty, N82, etc) ?!? There are MANY of you that are complaining about its camera yet STILL defending it in the "post your pictures & video taken by the K850i" thread.
Err, the camera is rubbish. I'm yet to take one photo on my phone thats actually looked good at full size. One thing it definitely doesn't do is produce incredible photos!!!
But for someone like me that has waited and only now seriously contemplating purchasing a K850i.
I own the K790a and its the same as the K800 when it comes to stock camera performance. So I have a reference point, and from what I've seen in others photos the K850i seems to be MUCH MUCH better; and not solely due to the 1.7MP difference.
So "isn't that great" when refering to the K790a/i or K800/K810's camera is nothing I can weigh.
So you haven't even got a K850? In that case then how can you possibly make comment on the camera? |

I finally got tired of waiting and got rid of this piece of crap. I got a N82 instead, and i couldnt be happier! I can FINALLY take night time photos of people without getting flashburn. that was all i ever wanted. plus wifi and gps is a nice bonus. i still cant get over how awesome the photos look on this phone. and the designers were clever enough to put a lens cover too! heres a comparison of the same photo between the two different phones. SE fanboys will piss and moan, but lets see any K850 take a photo of flesh tones as good as that!

Obviously, you don't know how to handle a camera.

if that were true, wouldnt both photos come out badly? i tried absolutely everything to get nice flesh tones with my k850. i held it every possible way and tried every combination of settings there is. if anyone in this thread is thinking about selling their k850 and getting a n82, i urge you to do so. you wont regret it! |

nice point iqmaster158. these are point and shoot cameras. not DSLR cameras that should need to be handled.
i really hope the firmware comes out for you guys soon. but personally, i dont think a simple firmware update is going to fix all the things wrong with this phone |

2 things:
1. How's the battery life
2. How fast is the phone when saving a 5MP shot
P.S. I don't get flasburn with my K850i.. you are just using it wrong... |

@Dupet
I think it's safe to say that you have either a faulty camera in your K850 or serious problems with the firmware. I tried the same type of foto on my hand with auto settings and it turned out okay. Not as bleached as your shot at all.

the N82 isnt that ugly is it? personally, i put functionallity ahead of looks. just ask my ugly girlfriend. the good thing about the n82 is that it looks the way it does in the product shots. it dosent have an fingerprints on it yet.
but why is it that whenever someone gets awful pictures with a k850, its because theyre using it wrong? the net is full of 5mp phone review/comparisons and the k850 almost always comes out last. but people insist its the photographer. I know how to take photos, and i know to keep my fingers well away from the front of the k850. the flashburn thing is a well reported bug in the k850. if you insist your k850 dosent get flashburn, please take a photo of your arm with auto settings, and post it at full size with its exif settings so everyone can see.
im kinda sad to see SE go. the Nokia interface is really foreign to me. but everything works and i can plug it into the telle to look at my photos, and that alone is worth the switch. to me personally |

Dupet,
The photo that you have pubslihed shows that the shot is overexposed.
I also faced a similar problem and hope SE addresses this in their next firmware update. It is nothing to do with the phone or the camera. This only happens when the distance between the subject and the camera is 2-3 feet. More than that it is ok.
Compared to N95 this phone takes incredible pictures.. no doubt. But you have to agree to the fact that all devices have plus and minus and this phone is no exception. None of the Nokia cameras give so clear & crisp pictures as SE of a same level does.
K800 is perfect today after 10-12 firmware update. So wait for another couple of firmware updates and I believe you will see the real camera coming out.

Here you go. Auto Settings with flash. White background. EXIF info is there also.

@Dupet
Check the size of the hand in the first photo and compare it to the one on the second. You'll notice that the background is larger on the first photo, than the second, so the K850 has adjusted the flash to the background (hence the extremely bright hand) and not the hand.

Auto everything and i think my hand is even closer to the flash then yours:
Okay a bit blurred but anyway you can see the effect from the flash.
The second one with ISO 100.
