Nope, it'll just be an application update.
My point was that there is often a firmware update shortly after an application update.
I think APP update is to add new phones/changes to the program..
For firmware they'd just need to update their servers..i dont see why the programs would need an update

I'm disappointed at the level of professionalism here. Stating a time to deliver something then not doing it without an apology or correction is not good handling of business. If they didn't say January I don't think that many people would be incredibly unhappy, the current firmwares out are ok. They're almost stable (which is the best that you're going to get with some manufacturer's), they could just do with a few tweaks. I for one, believe the new firmwares are worth the wait, but telling us they'll be here and not sticking to it is bad form.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

No I don't think so..
I have talked to the SE Support here in Norway, they told me that they have deleted the 038 FW from the "over air update" and that a new update was ready in week 6. |

I am starting to think that this FW update is nothing but the propagation of the 039 to all networks and unbranded phones, otherwise why would they release the 039 FW for "3" a few days before a major FW release? i don't understand.
Can someone from "3" network comment on how buggy or unbuggy 039 FW is?

Touchy, R1DA039 is the same firmware as R1DA038.
Certain networks like there own branding and so ask SE to change certain features and scripts on the phone. 3 is one of them.
Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile have the same revison of R1DA038 (The Base Software, Boot scripts and connection managers etc, However They have There own Signatures and languages on the phone. Like there own Style of software.
R1DA039 has been out for the last 2 weeks ar service centers.
The reason why R1DA039 has only just been released as it was awaitng approval from 3.
You ask why not wait until the newfirmware is released.
Because 3 will take another month or so to prob auth that one, so its better for the customers to have less buggy phones than what they currenlty have.
Hope this makes sense.

thanks.
it makes sense. what i don't get is why SE has not made the fixes/improvements achieved with 038 (listed on the first page) GENERIC?
one would think that if they went thru the trouble of fixing bugs for a network they would upload those fixes/improvements inmediately for all non netowork specific audiences (i mean improvements such as the new camera driver).
now again, from what i heard here 038 is less stable than 037 am i right?

@tonchy
From what i undersstand.
The main Networks like
Orange, O2, Voda, T-Mobile, Tim and a couple of others we sending 1 in 5 phones back for repair or unwanted handsets.
This is 20% of stock of SE which is a large ammount.
The networks can play heavier hands than a single consumer and this is from what i understand why the R1DA038 was relased.
R1CA037 is a stable firmware for Java, even though its buggy.
R1DA038 was relased for Camera and Java issues.
As you know, most networks offer a 14 day return so when SE get all the phones back from the networks, they tend to fix things quicker.
Strange but true. |
