Most people here know that the Xperia platform names are derived from river names, right?
from what I recall in past posts, people posted names of individual codes, like Honami, and not the river.

I call BS on this . I just checked the NCC site and this is all the results for Sony, no 3rd model shows up on the list.
here is the full list after typing into the number code.
Could it have been removed? perhaps, but sumaho has posted fake geekbench entries before. This recent one in particular. So I don't believe them, seems like a ploy to gain views.

there is no such entry, and entries from geekbench as far as I know can't be removed, only the website can remove them if they deem the entry to be fake.

Rumours are Sony will fully exit the European market in 2026, with this year the last for new models, 1 VII and 10 VII.
If true, that will kill the marketshare even more,

What exactly will this leave? Japan? Then the next year they'll withdraw from the reckless pan-Japan plan, to concentrate on Tokyo. Then the next year, Ginza. Then finally they'll truly innovate and become the world's first theoretical phone brand, where they design models but don't actually sell them. |

I saw they said in the Financial report briefing they aren't abandoning this business segment. But here someone reported they are cutting on R&D, they stop selling in countries, less models... It seems they want to cut it off but are afraid of bad image it will give to the investors tbh...

Focus will be on Asian market, whether this is true, is unknown.

If not next year then definitely sometime soon. This exactly mimics how they pulled out of US once they cut off physical models from being on a display at BestBuy and other retailers and made them just online exclusive. |

Good move but it's sad to see the end of the compact Xperia phone - there was no better combination than the compact phone with the compact tablet.
