Speaking of Apple products, has anyone tried the tiny 'Mac mini' computers out?
I'm thinking of getting one for the better half, as to pay the full amount for the GarageBand program (that now comes pre-installed as standard as part of the iLife 09 package in Macs, together with iPhoto and iMovie) separately is crazy.

@ da brixsta:
I don't think we'll see too many Morroccans around these parts in a hurry again; I think they (Maroc Telecom?) managed to close the loophole that allowed them to browse/spam esato for free...

Happy birthday indeed to esato:-)
@da wanqa: I still don't think the MacMini offers value for money considering that you can get a PC, with similiar dimensions that can do the same job. But the MacMini does look beautiful...all Macs look beautiful:-)

@ da brixsta:
It's more to do with the Apple programs than anything else. The music and graphics industries alone sing the praises of dedicated Mac media programs n' stuff.
PC World here have the Mac Mini with 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB Memory, 320GB Hard Drive and NVIDIAGeForce9400M, running on Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard for 650-odd (approx R8500), plus the aforementioned iLife 09 software which she's particularly after. That's a lot in such a small package. The size isn't a deciding factor, neither are the aesthetics, but dang, both sure do sweeten the package.
Yeah one could buy 2 decent PC's for that money, but you'll pay through your posterior for similar stand-alone programs like GarageBand or a close-enough equivalent. (Well legit copies anyway, LOL).

Yoh, I didn't realise Apple Mini's were that small! My lunch box is about the same size! LOL. I first thought I was looking at some Apple external hard drive...
The Apple salseman was keen to point out that the lower spec Apple Mini which has 1GB of RAM and 120GB hard drive, would also run iLife '09's programs without any probz, due to Macs being far less RAM-hungry than Windows. The cheaper option is 499 (approx R6500), yet still comes with the full (and all-important) iLife 09 bundle. What was great is that the salesman is also a muso, so when he and the mrs started with the jargon and midi peripheral music stuff, he certainly knew what he was talking about.
I still wanna do more research this weekend and do further price comparisons etc before commiting that much moolah to one thing.
Either way, we'll have an Apple Mac of some sorts in the house by Monday evening.
EDIT: @ Gucci: Thanks boet, hope you have a bril one yourself.

Been seeing the N97 ad quite a lot lately, its a good ad but i dont totaly like it, its just so straight to the point,no mystery/hidden message, its just not cool lol. I miss the whole N95-Theres a thing in my pocket, N81/N95-8gb-The Next Episode and N82-Storyteller ad campaigns they had, they were just so intruiging, you wanted to know more, and when you unboxed your new Nseries back then there was a nice lil message from NOKIA right next to the phone relating to the whole ad campaign they had, dont know if they do that anymore but the attention to detail made it all realy an awesome experience like you had something special, ah well,i wonder what else NOKIA have in store for us, the current range is just so blahhh. . . . .
If someone gave me R10K and said choose any NOKIA i would probably take a N95-8GB or E90. . . . .sorry for the random rant,im just bored, and looking at the current NOKIA S60 range over at GSMArena is making it all worse.

LOL Gucci, or maybe we've just become so saturated with specs n' stuff that it'd need something pretty groundbreaking to get itself really noticed amongst all the established high-end phones out there.

Daaaamn, for the past month, each and every weekend, the city's been locked down with roadblocks, random vehicle inspections, etc. Apparently the powers-that-be are gearing up for 2010, so they've brought in manpower from the outlying towns to assist. I've heard umpteen complaints about how strict the cops are being, but isn't that supposed to be a good thing?

Thank the bloody stars the 2010 World Cup will be over by the time we go on holiday to SA again next year; I'd hate to think what the plane ticket prices, car hire prices etc etc would be if it was still during the World Cup...
