The new phone The Palm Pre tipped as the new iphone has serious flaws in protecting peoples privacy it has been claimed. The Palm due to be released in Britain later this year sends daily updates to its US parent company on information including location, application downloads, crashes and how long you spend on applications. Technology blogger Joey Hess said The data gathered during a crash includes potentially private information such as a list of all programmes running on the phone. Source from Metro paper.

I don't see how that is a security flaw. Since the Pre has it's own OS surely all the programs running on it would be from a Palm App Store? And the data would be anonymous and protected by privacy law anyway.

This sounds like the usual bleating by hackers who don't like to be watched but like to have unfettered access to everybody else's stuff.
