I think it really depends. I'm fine with R1N; but it's not W800... I wish they would add the option were you can choose to turn on either the phone or the music player on K750... |

why ?
I think its a really silly feature
The main purpose of a cell phone is to be able to make and receive calls anywhere, this you can still do while listening to music for hours in normal mode.
By turning on only the musicmode, just to get a few more hours playing time, you are degrading a great multimedia phone into being nothing but a simple yet expensive flash mp3 player.
If a simple flash mp3 player was what you wanted, then why buy a phone ? |

well i live in canada, and sometimes when I go to the country for a day, there is no reception, so the battery just gets empty faster searching all day long for signal. It's also useful when you fly... |

The music only feature also helps when you are in areas where mobile phones are not allowed to be turned on, ie. hospitals, and airplanes. It's still quite difficult explaining to the flight attendant that your phone is actually in "flight mode" but more of them seem to be aware that such a "mode" exists in today's mobile phones. |

If you go to the country for a day knowing theres no networkcoverage, then why bring your phone in the first place ?
Wouldent it then be easier and more suitable/efficient to just bring a flash mp3 player for musicplaying.

We have had that debate before, point is that flight attendents doesnt and should not allow the use of a device even if it has flightmode, unless the device has been tested and approved for flightmode by the authorities or the airplanecompany. It isnt and should not be a question of you convincing the staff that it works, and then letting you or anyone else use whatever device they carry with a non tested flightmode. Its a matter of security for many people, its not a matter of your personal convinience. They shouldent allow it, and it shouldent be possible for you or anyone else, to convince them to take the risk.
I dont see any point for the airplanecompany to try and keep an updated approval list of tested and certified phonedevices for flightmode, its much to costly. Its much easier just to not allow the use of these devices, and thats what they do.
Therefore the flightmode isnt really a flightmode, but more a batterysaving mode, and imho thats a mood feature as turning off the main function of the device and thus converting it to a simple flash mp3 player to gain a few hours longer playingtime defeats the whole purpose of having a phone and the purpose of having a phone with an mp3 player in order to be able to do both at the same time.
Then youd be better of having separatetely a good phone and a good mp3 player.
Naturally thats just my opinion, others are entitled to disagree |
