the only thing im waiting for is an update to speed the phone up a little cause its abit sluggish for my liking but apart from that ive not had a problem with it and this is by far the best phone ive had. So any improvement on this phone would make it an even better phone than it is already and im still on R1CA037.

P.s i forgot to say mine is unbranded

every day i woke up then opening this forum, i'm expecting sum1 to yell like "IT'S OUT, the new FW is out..." or sumthing like that but it seems that i'm nowhere near it...
well, SE still have 3 more days though...just wanna see whether I or all of us are patient enough to wait...geez....
Don't worry about it. We deserve to have this firmware update and this "big" update shouldn't even be necessary in the first place. Sony Ericsson is lucky they have a loyal customer base like us, otherwise they'd be deep in a shithole.
I have never run into a brand where their flagship product is so handicapped... but ah well. If there is no update in 3 days, I am getting rid of this for a N95-3. Then I'll come back when the QS edition of the K850i comes out, and of course a complimentary new firmware!

I've never seen an 'E' on mine, or a 'G'.
Where in the UK can you get Edge? And is it only available on certain network providers?
Same, I've never seen E or H on mine, only G +/- 3G. I have however had speeds over 384kbps implying an HSDPA connection. I'm on T-Mobile UK with the phone on 038.

Can't say I ever tried downloading anything when I was in a HSDPA area. I try not to download too much on my phone as I only get a poxy 1MB of free browse & download and that can be used up in no time at all. |

hello,
the truth is that january is almost gone but, i heard that SE says that new firm will be released at the end of january (late jan.), or in first days of february (early feb.), so thats what i am personally sticking to.. |

I have the 037 Firmware and I only see E,G, or 3G
I live in Ireland and I have never seen the H logo, I dont think I ever will, as I read somewhere thats its dependent on the network, but it would be nice to see the H logo considering im on an Ericsson HSDPA network. |

*** MY EARLY THOUGHTS ON 038 FIRMWARE (ORANGE) ***
THE BAD-
* Text message inbox now crops the name of the person who text you, so for example John Walters now shows as John Wal - annoying.
* Already noticed higher batter consumption but why? I dont see my phone doing anything that would require more juice (I also have 3G turned off).
* The option to have the large clock on the homescreen is now gone completely and instead it now shows the small default date and time instead.
THE GOOD -
* The media menu's are now faster and flicking between photos now has a transition effect.
* There is now an option to list your text messages in different ways just like you could with the k800.
SUMMARY-
These are the only things Ive noticed so far, and personally after trying it I would like to go back to 037 as I never really had any issues with it. For all the people on here checking time and time again to see if 038 is out, dont bother. Dont waste your time waiting for such a minor firmware upgrade. Go out and enjoy life instead
Id imagine that the reason for some old features being missing is that there is a file size limit to the firmware, so if they make improvements in some areas, certain other things have to be sacrificed in the name of file size. I'll post more thoughts as and when I notice anything.
