you will see the standby clock ONLY when you press the volume keys - up or down when on STANDBY screen. But in reality, STANDBY screen are just plain BLACK for K850 unlike other sonyericsson units!

Added R1CA037 to the first post.

If anyone has further information on this firmware, I would be grateful for information (as I don't actually own the phone any more to test for fixes!)

Is the new firmware available for Voda branded handsets yet on SEUS?

Here is a link to photos taken with the K850i yesterday, where the flash didn't let me down!

NB: I didn't use anti-red eye on them (people never stay still long enough) and I am too tired and hungover to edit them manually!

The first post will be updated when the new firmware is available through SEUS - currently it is not released for end user update.

Right, found a couple more bugs to go on the list, related to the DS980 handsfree. These are definitely problems with the phone, and not the handsfree. When playing music through the DS980, and then using it to try and phone someone without stopping music first (it stops itself), the phone will not play music when you try to again, phone must be switched off, and back on to resume playback.

Other than that, had no problems so far.

Really glad a new firmware is on the cards, as this one is shockingly bad. I still have my K800i, and keep using it from time to time, its so much better to use than the K850i.

Just got a Bluetooth DS980 wireless stereo headset for the phone, seems to work very well indeed, will report on any crashes etc.

Flash on my phone seems to work most of the time, just the odd time it goes funny.

My biggest problem is UI speed, it is soooo slow. Was just streaming music, and syncing more music with Win Media player, and the phone was just unusable. Hopefully with time the firmware will improve. Photo quality seems good, accelerometer feature is extremely pointless and doesn't work very well.

Another thing they should do is disable the soft touch buttons during calls, as I catch mine while on a call.

Other than that, good phone, sound quality is decent too.

Another thing I've noticed on the new/latest firmware (R1CA037) is that I've now got "H" instead of 3G. Previously the phone only ever said 3G, even in areas where I now have HSDPA (and have had with other handsets).

It's still odd that it shows G and E too, at the same time as you're on 3G or HSDPA! I'd have thought it would be more logical to have the signal bar and then the square showing G, E, 3G & H (or whatever makes more sense). Now it's a mish mash!

I'm running the first firmware version and my flash is fully synced. However there are loads of other areas where the phone is lagging and is very slow

I've also found a zoom bug, if you zoom in on a picture in e.g. portrait and then turn the phone to landscape the zoom will be weird. Try it, and you'll know what I mean. Another thing is I've found out why the sound is out of sync with video. It has something to do with the codec - possibly H.264, but am not totally sure.

@jmcomms

Can you possibly tell me that has the Manual Equalizer issue been resolved with this latest firmware? This is to do with the manual equalizer setting not being saved as soon as you come out of the Media Player (although the manual setting takes effect as long as you remain in the Media Player)

Many thanks in advance.

@elad

Sorry, no. I created a manual preset (showing MAN on the media player itself) and then exited the application. Upon restarting, it's back to 'Normal').

The actual preset settings are remembered though, just not to select it when you start! That's pretty poor - although for me, Mega Bass is fine.

I must say that I've yet to swap the memory card from my T650 (4GB) so I've only got the 10 preset ringtones as music to select. At this point, the media player is VERY quick. I wonder if it will remain that quick when there are a 1,000+ tracks installed? Haven't yet tried watching video.

To be honest, with such a minor revision number change, I don't believe there are many changes on this firmware. Just the most obvious bug fixes (like the flash). The web browser was sluggish before too, but now seems a lot quicker - as you'd expect when using HSDPA - and I'm certain it never showed "H" before.

The Firmware for the phone may be faster in being released than we can imagine.

At presence the Se cust Support are taking most of the complaints on the K850i. Infact most calls and emails are now about the problamatic K850i

The SE Feedback Forum is more on faults with the K850i which most of them have already been mentioned on hear than any other handset.

Review for the Flagship phone in magazines, internet sites etc havnt been promising at all, some raiting 3 out of 5 stars.
Bear in mind when the K750 / K800 and K810 got 5 starts at most of them.

Most of them are saying the phone hasnt delivered up to being what the thought, Camera issues and too many bugs, Buttons feel Cheap and plasticky, phone feels bulky and so on.

The phone has already started to drop in price at a fast rate, eg Amazon.co.uk
Phone is now less than £320 Un branded.

All stores and internet sites have stock of a flagship model when normaly they fly out, also Ive been round shops at all the major networks and outlets today and not one has a picture of the phone in the window, Infact theres very little hype of the phone at all. (Is this SE doing?)

I have the phone and luv SE products, I am still however a little let down by it all, The firmware i know will be resolved in later updates, but I did think the phone would be better to say the least.

SE have been making phones for some years now, so releasing a phone with Firmware that turns a camera phone into a laugh is shocking to say the least.

I still Do like the phone though and wouldnt get rid of it, However my heart isnt with it SE at the moment which is a shame.
