hehe you MUST be all joking just to believe some analysts projections right?

Motorola is NOT just a cellular phone company ppl.
They make UMTS Base Stations, their building Sprint Wireless' WiMax network solely from scratch and its NOT their first network either. They have several contracts in Asia for UMTS networks & their upkeep. This last qtr does not fully reflect new handhelds like the RAZR2 variants (which in the North America are selling almost as good as the original - God forbid), Motorola Q9h/m/c (which has huge contracts due payment by 4 wireless providers in N.A.), etc.

They're not done yet, but I'm sure if it continues over the next 3 qtrs we'll see possible sale of their wireless division - which has some cash reserves. Remember their working with Google as a manufacturer for the Andriod project.

I'm no Motorola fan; but I'm no idiot either. Remember just 4qtrs ago when it was reported that SE surpased Motorola in total sales for 1QTR? That was short lived when the #'s where double checked by real analysts. So don't be so quick to count Motorola out. Their down but not out, and they have as many faithful fans like us for SE.

@Prom1

Chill out, I don't think the others meant it in a bad way. I believe Motorola still have the potential to improve their marketing. Even if they sell their wireless-division, they would still be behind the OEM equipments, so I don't think they would die that easy. US is their strong market, but they just wanted to push for global, so as long as the US market still exists, then Motorola can still breath. They just have to find other strategies to attack the global market.

If it was me, I would throw away the RAZR body. It has been many years since the first RAZR came out, and the hype doesn't really exists in those devices anymore. They should change their plan. Also, I traveled to many countries, but it seems Motorola's advertisements seems to be a bit behind, what I meant is it's just not too attractive. If they fixed these points, may be they would do better.

you seemed to be overwhelmed with my sentences thus making you seemingly to burst out of all your knowledge to contradict me and please don't put the word out unto my mouth as i did not said anything that emphasizes your "out" definition

as the news said, their main problem is within the software, which raised my impression that this might be caused by Moto's deliberance to utilize too many platforms in their portfolio.

tbh i don't have enormous knowledge with Moto with you so i dont want an argument here, but please i'm no preconcepting here, just reacting based on the facts i have heard and nothing else(no more no less). no preconceptions. i dont know why you are always liking to blast me with a bunch of sentences

motorola had so much potential but due to the bad UI and software and the repetitive use of the same design in all of their handsets it could only appeal to few and it was only a matter of time for them to go down the only way they could resurrect is if they make their handsets small Size-wise and and make their screens better and use a S.E or Nokia software or UI (they could even use s60 in all their devices that would help them
anyway i never liked them

And Samsung uses S60, so does discussion of their portfolio belong in a Nokia thread?

Moto's financial woes has nothing to do with SE.

Back on topic: With metal being used more extensively in SE's 2008 lineup, can we expect any of the phones announced at 3GSM to have metal parts?
