I was right about the preorder bundle, the official website is offering it with the 1000xm5
I mean, how could Sony offer it when the wh-1000xm6 hasn't even been announced yet?
I thought they were announcing the new headphones before the phone but I was wrong. |

I created a new thread for the VII. Since it is official now, please move all discussions about it there.
Hi can you post the link here? Thanks a lot!

As for future Xperia, nothing really changed. Sony cancelled some unannounced Xperia model(s) at the end of 2024 because they are unsaleable. 2025 will be even more bleak.
You make it sound like the vii is just a trash junk release. It sounds like it's a pretty good update to me. Not much different from what other manufacturers do every year.
I personally would like Sony to keep doing their thing with 4k and 21:9 ratio but here we are.
What makes you say that things are so bleak?
Okay its my fault that I also joined the smoke and mirror game by Sony to build hype, by making things both right and wrong. You got bigger sensor but its not the one that you are expecting for example
There are hardware improvements to the audio output. Namely the gold-tin solder (in my opinion next time just use silver-tin because gold-tin is full of BS ), optimized circuit traces, choice passive components (like better specs capacitors and such.....). Yes its not enough to significantly improve the audio quality but still better than the previous one (and now VII audio quality is essentially watered down version of Walkman A106)

@spektykles
Could you please clarify, since you know, what the aspect ratio and resolution of the phone is? Your post with 16:9 has confused everyone a bit!!! Thank you

Clearly not 21:9
A longer focal length for tele, maybe?
Let me just say that your way of expressing yourself certainly does not help the community, nor is your irony funny. |

you should probably correct the 2025 phones section on your site
https://memn0ck.com/d/Xperia.html#i2
the 1 VII is not XQ-FCxx, it XQ-FSxx

Noted, wont happen again (because now I lost interests in Sony and wont bother with them anymore, no leak from me. Joined Xiaomi now)
Site is abandoned (I lost interest in 2023, you can see the quality declined). But feel free to edit yourself

Rumor of Xperia team running out of r&d money is actually true. They completely dropped mobile gaming as one of their features while Bravia and Walkman people only had consulting roles rather than active roles in development.
While it's easy to take shots at Xperia people their previous plan which included 21:9 was really clever. They've built a whole eco system around 21:9 when you think about it. Camera apps had clever UI with lots of features crammed in without viewfinder being infested with active UI fields. Their camera app monitor used 21:9 aspect real clever as well. Gaming benefited the most from aspect ration because touch controls didn't interfere with action on the screen. They were right about Netflix content as well as most of is ultrawide. They had it right but it was Android itself that held it back, Google is just not capable to impose system wide responsive layout so some very important apps didn't take advantage of 21:9 screen.
Once they switched to new displays (and that decision is most likely driven by cost savings) they really had a big trouble to adjust all proprietary UI stuff for the new aspect ratio. Unifying camera app made sense and VII proves that now by introducing even more camera centric features that are easier for user to find. Imagine having to enable Auto Positioning in Video Pro by going into Menu page 3 while many users are not even aware that Video Pro has a Menu option. Or imagine triggering macro photography in Photo Pro. Problem with new camera UI is that all the features you have in More tab are going to be overlooked by the user anyway. |

spektykles, most of us, including my self, really appreciate and enjoy your leak. Ignore a little bit of mindless criticism. I hope you keep leaking! |

If you think my criticism is senseless, you can also quote me, I'm not touchy. I've been part of this community for 17 years....I am, like many others, a fan of the Sony brand (Ericsson before that). We grew up together with the brand, on various sites on the web (xda and others): being part of a community means supporting each other, providing value that helps those who need it. We have always followed the release of new products, trying to find out in advance what the news was and comparing ourselves together to understand if the investment was worth it or if it was better to focus on other paths. At the time, there were guys who were saving money little by little to be able to afford the new device (since the one they had was obsolete). Spektykles (who I respect as a person), like other leakers, in my opinion, "boasted" several times about the fact that he knew useful information, without providing real help to those who needed it. All those turns of phrase, smileys, riddles, all those yes, no, maybe.... are "jokes" that only made him laugh, and certainly not from a site of enthusiasts looking for useful information for a new purchase. If you can't be clear, better not to confuse ideas, if you can be clear... be clear. I repeat, I have nothing against spektykles, but I have found, more than once, that his giggles and riddles did not bring any help. And it is not only true for him, but for many famous leakers... who speak only to show that they know "something" more than others. This has never been the purpose of this community. |

Then let's agree to disagree.
Straight leaked information is fine, of course.
But fortunately I have the presence of mind to enjoy leaked information with a little inconsistency and naughtiness.

Can someone who follows all this a bit more closely tell me what the likelyhood of other releases this year are? From what I can make out, 10 VII is fairly certain and probably sometime in Autumn. Is there anything else? Any 5 replacement? Will 10 move upmarket? If there is any info about these points is it reliable in any way or pure speculation? Thanks. |

5 series likely gone. 10 series likely announcing later this year. Chip rumored snapdragon 6 gen 4, but was hope they put 7 gen 4 and maintain competitive pricing. |
