Best UK K800i Contract Deal |

I ended up getting exactly the same deal from them for £20 with free phone. I was offered 500 minutes and 500 texts for £25 so once I get my phone I might ring and see if I can get it changed to that depending on how many minutes I use over the first week or so. |

O2 Online Off-Peak 500, 18month contract. £25 per month! Upgrade phone cost £49. Cost over 18 month £500 basically!
750mins off peak a month, thats 12.5hours, and 750txt.
You can use free minutes to phone USA if you use free planet calling, so even at best with discount country options your looking at 12p a minute, so real savings over 18months is £1120!
Not always the cheapest contract is best! Its how you use your phone. |

I just got off the phone with o2 (for second time today, god they have a lot of inbreds manning their call centre phones)
Got them, in the end, to offer me:
K800i - £49.99
18 Month Online 200 (300 x-net mins, 750 txt) - £20 (should be £30)
+ Gold Insurance included for free
So am quite happy with that given that the first time I called retentions some moron who I could hardly understand was going on about only being able to get the phone down to £49 but having my contract go from £30 (400 x-net mins + 1000 txt from a previous upgrade barter) to £45. Dont mind the 18 month contract as I have been pretty pleased with the reception/service from o2 over the last 3 years.
I got annoyed and threatened to leave o2. She didnt seem bothered but guess her leaving that on my record indicated to the next person I was p****ed off.
Cant wait to get my hands on my k800i having said that I am sure their will be some complications with the tariff change, oh well more agro to use as barter material in the future
EDIT: Just to add to this does anyone know what this means in the o2 order status section:
Sony Ericsson K800i 3G
Provisioning Failed
3G Postpay SIM
Provisioning Failed
I think I recall the provisioning failed rubbish coming up when I ordered my k750i from them but getting a little worried now. At least it appears they are sending out a new sim "3G Postpay SIM"

Provisioning failed sounds like they're out of stock...
A 3G postpay (contract) sim is included in the box even if you're staying on a 2.5G contract. If you want to use the 3G services you'll need to have your account changed to a 3G contract
See the edit I made to my post at the bottom of page13 - changing to a 3g tarrif involved them giving me extra text and minutes for the same price!
Have a look at some of the photo's on my site, they can be quite good (no adult content!) |

Thanks drhunter
Do you know if the number is ported with the new sim? Will ring them tomorrow anyways to see about the provisioning thing anyhow but thought you might know.
EDIT: Just read your edit on p.13 I see they changed you over to the same tariff details as I am on, so maybe they have just changed me on to 3G anyway as I was on a totally different tariff before this upgrade. Hope so.

As I understand it though - these supposed 3g contracts (which the CEO office has confirmed don't actually exist any differently to 2.5g) are all 18 months - is that right? |

Thats what I gethered from the website, but when i spoke to the gentleman on the phone I specifically asked if my contract length would change and he said no!
He called again today to confirm that I had the £10 reduction that I had agreed when I upgraded. I'm quite impressed with the service overall!
@ mrwoll: Your number is transferred onto the 3g sim!
What happened was that the gentleman asked for the 3G sim card's serial? number (8944... etc).
He told me to put the 3G sim in my phone, and that it may take an hour or so to change. Although the 3G sim worked almost immediately, the 3G service will not be enabled until my next billing date!
(fortunately that is Saturday for me)

Do you think that CPW will do a "price match" if I take in a printout of O2's Online deal? Or even offer me something close to that? |

I've been with o2 online since October 2003 and last upgraded in January 2005 (1st upgrade). I had been waiting for the k800 for my next upgrade and also due to the fact that i was going travelling for a few months in March I didn't want to commit to a contract that i wouldn't be using, so i called o2 and reduced my tariff to o2 25 for £6 a month, with a £75 credit so i wouldn't cost me anything. However I called o2 up on Monday to ask about changing my tariff to their online offpeak 500 tariff and getting a new k800i, and was told that I last upgraded on Feb 24th 2006, it transpires that the guy who gave me the £75 credit to cover the £6 line rental took the £75 instead of an upgrade. So now even though I am paying off my line rental for the remaining 6/7 months of my contract o2 say they will not discuss an upgrade with me because I am contracted to 24th Feb 2007 with them.
Is this correct or have i spoken to a lady who wasn't too sure on the procedure?
Surely they would want to discuss an upgrade as I can walk away from my contract as I have paid it off. I even asked for my PAC and it arrived in the post yesterday. I was shocked o2 would just let me walk away without even asking if they can offer me a deal, last year they did.
Should I phone up Retentions and ask if I can upgrade?
Thanks |

It's worth a try. It's strange that they gave u your PAC code but won't let u upgrade. |

I am currently on O2 250 @ £35 p/mth.
Called for an upgrade and the best they could offer me was 500 min 350 txt for £20 p/mth and £79 for the phone! 12 month contract O2 Select with double minutes & texts for 6 months. Double minutes & texts isn't worth anything to me because I don't text and only phone 4 - 9hrs max per month.
The contract isn't bad, but £79 is too much for the phone.
I only spoke to upgrades, so will call again Monday and speak to retentions. Let's see if they can improve.

I think it's stupid not to offer me an upgrade when i'm paying off my contract. The lady said something about I can pay it off, but all that happens is that I put the relevant credit on to the account and it'd still come off every month-it's just that nothing will come out of my account as i'll be in credit. So in effect they won't let me pay off my account, seems a wierd way to do it to me. Has anyone else experienced this!
The only way they'd upgrade me is if i disconnected and thus paid off all remaining months in one payment, then start a new contract

Got one on O2 now, but my contract doesn't start till 17th due to porting my t-mob number over
Can I use my t-mob sim in there for now tho? I know I wont be able to use any 3G stuff tho. |
