Nice, I have yet to see an X1. I seriously wanted one for a while, but the price put me off!
Thanks. Our New Zealanders location list is now complete.

Err... no? Better have a look then.
I have my eye on a new toy - a roof mounted HSDPA antenna to improve my reception at home.

Did anyone see Target last night on TV3?
They tested 8GB MP3 players. Their choices were:
- iPod Nano
- iPod Touch
- Sony Walkman NWZA828B with DRBT21G BT stereo headphones included.
- Samsung something or other (P2 or K3 I think)
They got the band ELEMENO P to test the devices and it quickly became apparent that everyone has different tastes and strong views over what features matter. Funny that isn't it
Anyway, I thought the preferences and comments related also to mobile phones and found it interesting that:
- Those who use email and internet a lot loved the iPod Touch.
- Those to whom sound quality matters loved the and the Sony plug-in headphones.
- BT features turned everyone off, either because of poor reception or they felt like a techno-geek.
- Everyone thought the Samsung was solid and reliable but boring.
Final Ranking:
1) iPod Nano
2) iPod Touch
3) Sony Walkman
4) Samsung
The show will be available on TV3 Video on Demand here, it's not up yet but should be soon.

Haha. Not that I have anything against Apple as a brand or anything, but I laugh at any 'test' of MP3 players where iPod products come out on top. Surely an MP3 player test should include sound as its most important factor, and everyone knows that iPod's sound, while decent enough, can't match Walkmans (and surely Elemeno P would be into sound?!). iPods generally win only on style and in the Touch/iPhone's case, usability and extra features. The click wheel on other iPods is hugely annoying.
Even so, it sounds interesting and I might check it out later.

Why don't TV3 like Samsung? Why do you say that? |

Nice! Run smoothly enough for you? Thats the only thing I don't like about netbooks, they use 1.6ghz processors like back in 2003

Yeah so far so good. The atom processor is made so that little computers can run smoothly while being underpowered, so its running fine so far! I haven't noticed any real difference in speed compared to my Mac. I've just been trying to make Windows XP not look so Windows XP-ish.
Pretty happy with the price I paid too!

Ok to get windows xp at its best:
1. Install SP3
2. Find and intall royale theme (the silvery one I use http://www.softpedia.com/get/[....]s/Royale-Theme-for-WinXP.shtml )

I saw another one of those telecom ads with the w705 on it and I also saw another one with some other phone on it. I dunno what the phone was but I think its a clamshell with an i-pod like (aka silver) top part

Can't think what that would be... Know a brand? Actually we could probably just look up the Telstra Australia site and see Telecom's future range.
I think I saw in one of the Chch malls the other day that Telecom were advertising what looked like the LG Renoir on one of their stands. |
