Got an email yesterday, apparently its been shipped by UPS, will probably arrive 5 weeks to the day from when I ordered it! Or maybe they were selling it before it was released, since none of the other stores I have looked at have it in stock yet. Who knows but its finally on its way!! |

Hi ALL
I've been reading all messange of this topic from the first one 11.26 and I know now all the stories about nav for SE PXXX...I've got a P800 which just fall down 3 days ago and now needs a new monitor which means 150€! Too bad it was great! I'm therefore looking for a new mob. and since I wanted already to buy a Nav too I think now to get 2 in one!
I guess I must look for a P910i, shouldn't I? Is there any pack mobile+nav better than that? What about the new SE mob P1000 which I heard about?
I've understood that TT nav system is anyway better and ROUTE66 although noone has it already.
Furthermore I've another question, I've had the luck to make the bakup on my P800 just before its end, may I reload now all the info in the P910i if I'm going to but it?
What's the changes between P910 and P910i?
Thanx for your support, I found this forum really usefull!

Putting back the backup can be possible, but could give problems with some programs and some data.
There are no differences between the P910 and P910i.
I have TomTom for UIQ!

Ordered TomTom Mobile 5 for P910i on 16th Aug. They shipped it by UPS last friday. Should arrive tomorrow - 5 weeks to the day since I ordered it.
They blame backlog of orders for the delay!

Hi MR
Just wondered what could possibly be causing a 5-week delay with this new system? They either have them or not.
Also very nervous as the 910i replacement is due soon and am due for an upgrade in a couple of months. I would dearly love to stay with SE, but would be nervous spending money on TT5 and then it not being compatible with the new 'Hermione' phone.
Any thoughts on that, MR?
Grateful for your comments, as ever.

You need to change somethings, I think UIQ 3.0 is not completly backwards compatible!

Received TomTom Mobile 5 earlier this week (P910i version). When they say 5 weeks, they mean 5 weeks!
This app is so, so cool. There have been a couple of issues, but it certainly more than meets expectations.
The first issue was in trying to get a GPS fix. I had to go to London, so got it all set up while I was on the train. I knew these devices weren't great in cities, but I just couldnt get it working. However, as soon as I was out of London into the open it just worked, and havent had any GPS problems since!
A couple of issues - The voice only comes through the phone speaker, even if you're connected through a hands-free in the car. This means it's difficult to hear. I read somewhere that you could download louder voices - anyone know which ones are 'louder'. Alternatively can you force it to output through the carkit (car speakers)?
The other issue is battery life on the P910i (GPS receiver is fine). With TomTom running (and bluetooth enabled) it just drains the battery in 2-3 hours. Even when I left it on charge while using it, the battery never got back to 100% after about 3 hours charging. I've ordered a new battery as a backup/spare and wonder if the current one has just worn out.
Also had problems downloading the extras as the TomTom server wasn't available, but now that's sorted. Still testing out the traffic and Speed camera features.
Anyone considering buying TTM5, don't waste too much time deciding - after all you're going to have to wait at least 5 weeks to get it delivered.
