But Snapdragon 835 and not 845.....
New 4K Phone with Snapdragon 845-IFA
???
MWC 4K flagship will have the obsolete S835??
What's the logic in having a flagship with all the best of tech (6GB RAM, 128 GB ROM, 4K screen) and then use an old S835?? |

What I could understand is that at MWC there will be a phone that is " XZ1s" equivalent.
Then at IFA we will see the equivalent of XZ2, XZ2c and XZ2P.
I feel confused. Wasn't it supposed to have imx400?

Dude, this makes 0 sense.
If you are already packing top of the line hardware such as 6GB RAM, 128 GB RAm and Dual camera, why would you regress to old SoC such as S835 (and it will be well obsolete when Galaxy S9 will have S845 which Sony's phone will be competing against). There is absolutely no logic that phone with these specs would have S835 instead of contemporary S845.
Also, why regress to 2K screen? Sony never used 2K screen!
Third point; how is S835 suppose to provide 4K@60 fps video recording? There is no phone in existence with this SoC that can pull out 4K@60 fps video recording. S835 doesn't allow that!
Better double check your sources, things you post lately are beyond absurd! |

@ambivalent
If this comes out to be true, this phone would be like a " XZ1s".
The same way XZs has the 820.
Only ppl who read about tech know specs and choose phones based on that.
I am sure many ppl would not realize XZ and R1 are completely different inside.
I've seen many ppl comment they were going to get XZs instead of XZP because of size and metal body |

do not encourage him by asking him questions.
As for what soc will be used it depends how fast sony wants the device on the market, if it is right away after mwc, don't expect sd845 since samsung will be using up all the initial supply. If sony decides to launch it in the late spring/early summer then sd845 is more likely but if this IFA device is meant to be a superior device then a summer launch would be rather close to any ifa devices.

I remember to read this when it was written.
Sony presented the imx400 a few weeks before MWC.
A Semiconductors event in San Francisco.
This page talks about the sensor, info says it can do FHD 1000fps and 4K 60fps.
Also regular FHD/HD 240fps.
Maybe this year they wanted to see how it would act for daily use.
To be sure the phone could work without ovrheating.
Probably now they feel confident to unlock more of its power..
This is my opinion, I have no idea what goes on at Sony.
BTW: XZ and XZs are getting android 8 since this morning

@Moe87
My post from last year's thread: this is XR4
about next years flagship, between 78-80% body to screen ratio whilst keeping stereo speakers and 960fps upgraded to full HD and new CPU will support 4K 60fps which will be industry standard for all 2018 flagship following on from Apple

Sure...
Someone was confused about how new phone would be able to do more than current phones with same CPU.
In case they use 835 again.
Joseph , do you know if Sony take suggestions from costumers?
