OT: I right now as we speak the K800 takes better pictures than the N95. The N95 photos are pixelated and the color balance is a bit of, but all this can be fixed in a fw update.

Well...sigh... can you show us (with comparable pictures)?

You have seen this one a dussin times, and there are more pictures taken with the N95 that show this redish fenomenon, there is no need to argue about this.

Your picture is from the phonearena.com comparison!!! That review already established that N95 is the better overall camphone based on these photos which you post.

I think in regards to size and nice compact mobile phones, sony ericssson is a better looking phone than nokia N95 which is very bulky. The only thing that N95 is attractive is that it has GPS function.

However, that is probably because im a sony fan compared with nokia fan.

sony camera has a better focus compared with nokia i think. Software-wise, nokia is more complicated but it is probably who is an amateur in using sony ericsson compared with other sony ericsson users.

@plankgatan:

The "cap" photo is a crop of a bigger picture. So it is at full resolution. Your pict is reduced down. Of course yours it looks better. If I reduce a N95 pict down to your pict size, it will look even better than your photo because N95 has more megapixels.

@harimed2209

Just take a look at this review where they put N95 together with K850 (which is smaller than K800), you can see that N95 is no much bigger than K850. In fact, in close position, N95 looks less bulky than K850.

Many here said the K800 can take good picture if you know how to adjust the setting. But N95 takes great shots without the need to do any setting adjustment. So which is the easier camera to use?

Well, what can I say, did you actually look at the pictures and read the text of the review your self?

The _ONLY_ reason the N95 won is because it is 5MP.
If u read the text after every test part they stat the K800 is the better one but it is 2mp less so they give nr1 spot to the N95.

Test 1: Pictures, taken in the open, in broad daylight
N95 has come first, thanks to the good balance between the authentic colors (although oversaturated, which, however, most people like), the properly exposed detail and little noise.
The second place is occupied by К800 due to its colors, which are more realistic, compared to those of КG920.
-----------------------------
1) N95: N95 is capable of reproducing neutral colors situations best, but, unfortunately, they are all deliberately oversaturated. The brightly-lit objects burn easily, unlike D900. The 5 megapixels provide quite a lot of detail, but some pictures are blurred due to the noise reduction system.
2) K800: Wildly fighting for the first place, but the limitation of the 2 megapixels impacts the pictures negatively. It performs best as far as colors and exposition are concerned.
-----------------------------

What does this tell me (even without looking at the photos)?
That the K800 produce photos with realistic colors and that the N95 produce photos with oversaturated colors.
They even go so far as saying that the only reason the K800 is second is b/c it's 3 Vs. 5mp ...

If you then look at the photos you will see that the colors are oversaturated a lot, just look at the shades of red, and also that the details got a lot of noise.

Теst 2: Nighttime pictures
1) N95: The impact of the noise reduction system is felt, since almost everything is blurred, but the correct exposition and the realistic colors make the pictures look better than those of the competition.
2) К800: The situation with К800 is the same as N95. The reduced resolution is a shortcoming, depriving the phone of the gold medal.

The reson the N95 won Test 2 is pretty clear I belive.

Test 3: Pictures at artificial light: different power, different distances
K800’s Xenon flash beat the competition in the dark rooms, 8-9 ft (3 m) category. It produces abundant light, lighting the objects and producing the most detail in the pictures. In close-ups the N95’s LED does a good job and, combined with the good software, takes the phone to second position in this test.
-----------------------------
1) К800: the powerful flash provides the best lighting from different distances, but the enhanced sensitivity results in blurred detail .
2) N95: at close-ups the LED flash lights the objects and the pictures turn out fine, but it is helpless at greater distances.
-----------------------------

Clear winner here...

Теst 4: Test situation: colors and resolution
1) N95: the combination of realistic colors and high resolution earn this phone the first place.
2) К800: again, it loses to N95 due to its 3 megapixels.

Wait a minute, why did the K800 loose this test?
Ah it's 2mp short again...

That the N95 wins over the K800 in a resolution test should be clear to all, 5mp > 3mp, but how oversaturated colors > realistic colors that part my brain can't figure out.

The test results they come up with are totaly mp/resolution biased
But, there is a but here...
Looking at the 100% crop images you can make your own opinion of the test. You can download the pictures, put them side by side and compare.
Sure the N95 is 5MP, but, the software applied sharpening and noise reduction render the high resolution worthles due to heavy loss of detail.

But hey don't take my word for it, go read the test and see for your self.

You are just taking in only one issue (i.e. color reproduction) and using it to say that K800 is better is superfluous. We have to look at ALL factors. And when ALL factors are taken into account, N95 is the OVERALL BETTER camera. The reviewer would have weighted in ALL factors (like color reproduction/sharpness etc) when he/she gave the highest rating to N95.

In the first test, it can well be that K800 is more accurate in colors compared to N95 but by a slight margin BUT K800 may have lose big time in clarity and sharpness to N95.

And we should consider the speed of operation where k800 clearly wins. It starts-up faster, focus is faster and the saving process is faster(even in k850 prototype as seen in videos taken by xumdeo) so if we consider this k800 is better because n95 needs more time to do those things than k800.

wishmaster89:

According to phonearena review, time different is only 1 sec between N95/K800 between picture in K800 favor. imo, this is too small a time to have a significant impact on user satisfaction. Considering that N95 process 70% more data (5 vs 3mp) than K800, the speed of N95 is indeed very good.

maybe more appropriate to compare next n-series to K850 since K850 will only be available 4-6 months from now.

You should be comparing N82 and K850, instead. They'll be out at approx. the same time. Now, that's an interesting comparison!

umm, not really, if I'm correct N82 is a music oriented device.
