Another downside of X1 is the screen which is small 3" which steals the potential of 800x480. But Touch-HDs 3.8" although superb is too big to be pocketable. IMO the sweet spot is 3.2" 640x360 screen of Nokia 5800. I sense that Hikaros screen is as ideal as that! Too bad my patience can't reach 2nd half of 2009  | |

according to gsmarena, the xperia x1 is launching at 630 EUR (~800 US dollars), which is more costly than an iphone 3g, and double of what the new nokia 5800's launching at. dont compare Iphone and nokia 5800 to the X1 the computing power in X1 is way beyond both phones and with qwert keyboard
but i am not buying it for $800 as i got a psp to watch movies on the move and a k790 for pics and mp3 i rather put in $200 more and get a notebook

Is it possible that i was able to see a pic with a post-it on a laptop with "Xell 10/26/08" and above the laptop a hand holding an xperia-slider?

the X1 is not exactly top of the line??? please tell me exactly...what makes a phone top of the line??? having a WVGA screen resolution doesn't make it on the top??? if you consider the iphone "top of the line" which X1 beats specs-wise, then I don't know if you're opinion is objective or just a simple bashing.
Forget iphone its absolute bullshit in terms of features. I was talking only of the price point of view.
The features of X1 are Very Good except for the camera as mentioned before, which is just mediocre in today's mobile market.

The features are only a bit different between X1 And 5800. For X1, Processer/Ram is better. Screen Resolution is Better and a few other advantages. Honestly, there's no real big Wow factor that beats the 5800 down completely, but still the price difference is 100%!! (5800 will retail for 400$ approx and x1 for 800$).
Tell me, With only a handful of differences, is 800$ worth paying for the phone? It would have been a really awesome phone if it were to be say atmost 500$ but 800 is absolutely ridiculous.
Here in India, the iphone 3g 8gb unlocked version retails for 32000rupees, thats well over 650USD. And that is considered HELLISHLY expensive, especially for those crappy features. Why does it seem like the X1 wants to beat this ugly record??
I was actually thinking about x1 when nokia announced their new touch phone. But after knowing of the first ever xperia device's price, i think i'll definitely pass.

I dont know any exact problems to quote ATM. But Ive heard of alot of crashing and the like, so its not very reassuring. Add to that the fact that SE wont do anything about it. I had a friend with a P990, he never experienced any problems, and then suddenly all the buttons stopped working. It doesnt sound that great to me. That is what I meant. Can anyone tell me once and for all what they think of the G900 build quality? Ive seen dummy models and they feel even cheaper than the iphone, believe it or not, but then in pics it always looks really great. It seems to me the buttons on the sides seem tacky, as if from a toy, the d-pad has a lip on it which feels really annoying, and the centre button is tiny, the keypad seemed misshapen, somehow. I will admit though the back looks great .
I suppose though, if I am going to learn to use a new smartphone OS, it might aswell be WM, since that will continue, and in that case even if there is a problem, you have support enough to sort it out. UIQ is a dead end in that respect, where if it no longer works that is your problem. Money should not matter too much since I could get either on a contract if I wanted to.
X1, however, seems underdeveloped to me. I'd prefer more of a unified UI (like Touchflo, but SE style) throughout the phone, making it useable, rather than just making mismatching 'panels' stringing them together with a couple of animations and calling that a UI. The X1 is close to perfect, scrap the keyboard, improve camera features and performance, add an accelerometer and there it is. Everything else on the market which meets that description so far is missing something, whether its a d-pad, or a 3.5mm jack or whatever. But Im not sure about the X1 yet.
