Only 2 days for Firms DAY...it's strange that nobody filtering details about this release, isn't it?

I hope news soon...one question, it is Confirmed by SE that this new FIRM have a Camera improves?

It's not looking to promising if you ask me. I've got a feeling this big fix is gona either arrive very late or it won't be any good. Or am I just a pesimist?

shawon > ever hear of the expression "Bigger fish to fry"? Bug might be a bug but it's so completely pointless to fixate on "what if?" situations that might and probably WILL never come up, I'd rather SE concentrates on fixing real life issues that affect every day usability and performance. So that is why I don't see a point in bringing up such minute issues...

Also the orb stopping is when pressing C is on 037 as well so I'd have to assume it's a function rather than a bug. See this is another presumed 'issue' that is being brought up...

Not only is it detected by T9, it also matches up the phone number as well. It's really innovative and saves tons of time looking up contacts!

I hate to say it but I'd hardly call it innovative considering that Windows Mobile devices have had these features (both alpha and by number) for 2-3 years. Not being nit-picky just don't want people to think that this is a great feature that SE thought up on their own...

For some reason my mates phone is not receiving texts. He's got a K850 on O2 (exactly the same as me, we're both with O2 online) but my phone is working fine.

I think he's got firmware 029 on his, I've got 038.

Any idea what the problem might be? Its obviously not a network problem so it's got to be phone related.

This is fixed now. He put his sim card in my phone and my sim in his phone, then swapped them back round again and it works fine now! Very strange!!

me neither. everyone will probably be at home in bed after a long week of fixing bugs.

i agree. i brought a k750i on the day it came out, i had to swao it three times before i found the one right for me. i no the bugs were not as extreme on the k750i as the k850i, but thats probably because they are using a brand new platform, once they get it right the phone will be a good 1.

however one thing SE need to do is get the phone to work fast, my k750i i will open messages instantaneously whereas k850i seems to want to take days opening my messages, otherwise k850i is a really nice phone

I have the 037 unbranded too, SEUS does not allow me to upgrade,
i also look forward to an upgrade. Not that my has ever presented a bug yet,
but there are 3 things i would like to be fixed:

-the horrible performance with 3D applications, its not natural, K850 has superior hardware, esp its GPU, its surely a matter of drivers, they need to fix this without sacrificing the battery
-the color balance of the camera, yes it is truth about the purple color appear everywhere and it cannot be fixed since it a hardware issue (the quality of the lens), but SE can fix it using false color balance and higher contrast,
thats a quick fix and the reason K850 seems so blurred comparing to the rest on the 5mp phones in reviews...
-and finally, i have a fools hope for bringing back the old k750 function of typing sms, using the volume/zoom button to select the third or the second letter,
this function allowed me to write 2x times faster in my k750

I have gone through the old K850i White paper r2a (Aug 07 Released) and checked it with the K850 White Paper R3a (Jan 08 Released), this has just been released.

The paper is normally only release when changes have been or going to be made shortly to the firmware

Ok here are my findings

In R3A paper,
Copyright Protection – DRM
They have added, Microsoft DRM Janus, Microsoft DRM Camese

In R3A Paper
Music Player and Effects:
This has been removed completely

In R3A Paper
Video Call Time:
This has been increased to a Target of up to 2 hours and 30mins

In R3A Paper
Real Player 9 and 10 has been introduced to be supported by the K850. This in addition to Real player 8

In R3A Paper
Audio Encoding
Removal of AMR-WB+

In R3A Paper
Java 3D
This has been increased from JSR-139 to JSR-239

In R3A Paper
Video Telephony
If you are using your 5mb camera for a video call, Digital zoom has increased from 2x zoom to 16x zoom

There are other minor changes and some word corrections but thats it.

I still cant tell you when the release is going to take place, but i understand its quite soon.

Hope this helps everyone out

Also the following 4 phones have new firmwares coming out in the next couple of weeks

K630i, K850i, V640i, or W910i

I know it was mentioned before but was there any evidence proving existence of Quicksilver black edition? Like in this new whitepaper..

@kenoby

The whitepaper mentions the colours of the k850i as green, blue and also mentions Midnight Black, so confirming existence of the new colour
