Yeah SE made a countdown website for the W902, W595 and W302 announcement, but nothing for the bigger announcements I mentioned.

Yes, but once announced, the X1 was hyped up to no end. It even had its own website lol! I doubt they would do that all over again with a new handset so soon... |

@djin: Ah true, we celebrate our Esato anniversaries on the same day!
@Tigershark42: Yes, but by that stage the X1 was no longer a rumour. We are talking pre-announcement here.

Well, if we are talking about it taking 8 whole months (from announcement to release- just like February announcement to October release for X1) for a device able to match or outperform the X1, with all the hype in between, then yes I would hope they would announce it now, so that it would release around halfway through 2009, which is when SF devices and WM7 devices are approximated to surface.
Another possibility is that the next one has been in development for longer by now, and won't need as much time from announcement to development (this is most likely for an OS which isnt new). I am doubtful of this though, since all the rumours used to be that they were prepping lots of UIQ devices, which since got cancelled because UIQ is being replaced, and its preferable to work towards SF than the short term UIQ.
Another possibility is that they wait till the first anniversary of the X1 to give us a successor (sounds like SE, but can they afford to keep being so slow like that?).
But with all the interesting goings on in the mobile world, SE sees serious competiton now and all sorts of OSs and possibilites coming along, I dont think SE can afford to just keep A200 the same for another year, or not bother giving Walkman handsets more than a 3.2Mpx cam without AF, say. Hopefully more interesting things will be coming soon, as you say, Oli. |

Maybe they are optimizing the UIQ devices for another UI (S60? WM?) |

So it has HSUPA? Nice. The C905 and G705 don't have HSUPA.
Hopefully it has some US 3G love too
