After reading some of the posts here, I'm not sure whether I should upgrade to fw 038. Can anyone here confirm that the phone will be faster with 038? As I feel that scrolling down my phone list to search for names are kinda slow compared to the majestic k750i.

Help anyone?

Not sure if this new feature of the K850 has been mentioned already so I'm going to mention it here:

Instead of going to contacts and either selecting them one letter at a time or scrolling through the list - from the home screen just start typing the person's name using T9, after about 3 key strokes names will start showing underneath what you have "dialed" This feature has been present on Windows Mobile smart phones for a while and now is on the SE platform

Example - on my phone when I start puting 436 I get Geo and George below who who are a couple of my contacts

I'm starting to think I was better off with my k750i :S

Relax bro, that's what SE always doin on their first fone release, even with the great n legendary ol' k750i...

i bought one about 2.5 years ago (few weeks after it was released) and what happened? it hangs frequently and randomly restarts itself that i have to trade it 3 times and perform FW update twice to make it the better fone until now...

who knows, after few decent updates (just like the k750i), the k850i will become another legendary SE fone, we'll just wait n see

For me K750i was really a masterpiece... People wouldn't belive that i had an 2.0mp phone in hands... The K700i was also an excelent phone too...There where the times SE really could make a big diference betwen its competitors..

For me K750i gave me more good feelings than my K800i wich was a very good phone also.. But not so good in desing...

K850i gives a litle remembers of my K750i becouse of the form factor i think....more wider and shorter and the led photo light wich i use a lot...Better themes etc..

I'd noticed that names appeared when you typed a number but never realised that it detected the name using T9. What a brilliant feature that is!

Not only is it detected by T9, it also matches up the phone number as well. It's really innovative and saves tons of time looking up contacts!

It won't I'm afraid, at least certainly not for me - I have owned the phone for four months and am still disappointed and hanging on for FW updates to make it work properly. Bearing in mind 4 months is 1/3 of my expected lifespan for any phone, that's not good enough.

question:

with the newest update, does K850 print the date and time on the bottom of the picture like K750? I also heard that something called exif (don't know what that is) is removed from K850. is it back on the phone yet with the newest update?

my reason for asking: I grouped my pictures based on date and phone name (I previously had K700, currently own K750, and looking to get K850, my husband had more). so I want to be able to know which pictures are taken with what and when.

please let me know. thanks!

New to these forums.... been reading this thread on the firmware for 4 moths now... and would like to say thanks to everyone for providing information on bugs / firmware release dates and helpful hints.

I would just like to know if these are possible bugs: (R1DA038) (02 Branded)

1) In the main menu of the media application ( where it lists "pictures" , "Music" etc.) you can "kill" the glowing orbs in the background by pressing the "c" key on the keypad.

2) When playing music in the media application, and minimize the application with the music still playing in the background, if you view your IMEI number then the media will crash and music will stop playing.

BTW: Oh... I'd also like to know how to get my K850i as a Pic under my name on these forums posts

From what we are getting now, I doubt it. Perhaps it's only an operator-based release, because our generic handsets haven't seen an update at all yet.

We'll probably be receiving the large update due February.
