Yea, I too would prefer WM, especially with the next version coming soon. It looke to be more complete as a serious OS than S60 IMO. But I suppose both OS's will try to look iphone like as regards UI sooner or later. I think SE did right to ditch UIQ just because it didnt seem to go anywhere...its true, S60 simply has more prospects. Same goes for WM. I agree about the N*kia tube though, it looks cheap and nasty to me, its all plastic and it looks like a toy for little children, aesthetically, it looks f**king terrible. Its almost funny. But I digress. Here I think Eldar really does show alot of N*kia favouritism by calling it 'revolutionary'. I mean WTF!? W902 'should have been cancelled' but Tube is 'revolutionary'!? Yeah, no, this guy is level headed :S

Well, I agree on one thing repeated also by myself as mantra - why they screwed UIQ and now buy the technology.
As for Nokia Tube - sorry, WHERE is the revolution? This is not a device I think of...
Anyway, clearly lack of UIQ leaves un-filled gap, where everybody chooses different aspects and devices now.

As for SE, it's not so down... At least X1 seems to be a really good one,
actually it looks like almost complete device.
Honestly, I rather choose WM than S60 from Nokia (an it looks ugly too).

the revolution is the prize you have to pay for it. I has pretty good specs considering the prize, but the phone is IMHO pretty ugly

Ok, I didn't mean ugly but the fact it gives nothing new.
The price is ok, but we talk about specs. I'd choose G900 over it...

Couldn't have said it better myself! That thing is not revolutionary be it in terms of price, design or specs. It is pathetic!

Anyway, I am really mourning the death of UIQ. I am waiting to see what the SF brings to the table and take it from there. I'm just not a fan of WM and it is going to take some convincing for me to jump on board the WM ship.

SE really know how to screw up!

specwise, the Tube trumps the G900 in every area, apart from the OS and camera

Hehe,
I'd rather say that 5800 Tube triumphs only on HSDPA area and bigger screen.
I can bet it has no Docs editor for instance.

HSDPA, GPS, bigger and better screen, which means it's better at playing video, plus it has VGA-recording, DSP for better music experience, 3.5mm port and quite a few more 3rd party programs compared to UIQ.

But the UI isn't as appealing as on the UIQ

'Sony Ericsson strongly believes in the benefits of open source as a means of developing software for mobile phones and driving innovation.'

Hmmn, okay? So what's wrong with android then, exactly?

Doesn't sound like they are announcing anything, just early stages, development, ideas, etc. It will probably be 6 months or more 'till we see anything...

Remember how people like PK used to say that this year was SE's year? I wonder if there are any handsets we have not yet seen (excluding cancelled stuff) which made them say this...

Oh, this was said BEFORE the big shift in SE strategy.
As I was posting before, Pseries was going to be real beast, but it was slammed after. Seeing that protos, I'd say the same thing.

Someone said that there were more recycled phones to come, maybe are recycling the P800......I wish.

Are insiders certain that the announcement is this month and not November which is what normally happens?
