Patents never show final designs. They are just for the concept which in this case is the way the flip folds around the phone. If this came to market it's pretty safe to say it won't look like that. I don't think it looks that bad... The keypad makes it obvious it's a Japanese market phone though.

...but it doesn't necessarily mean it may not be released worldwide, particularly when it resembles so much the first P series designs.
I really hope it becomes a reality with that huge screen, does remind me of my P910i and I'm very fond of that phone, plus it is still serving me very well indeed.

When I think of Pseries it makes me sad.
Looks like nothing new coming.

You and me both doministry! Sad indeed what they did to the beloved P series.

Only thing weird about the patent is what does it add over what well the P800 did? Flap over touchscreen, that's if flap touches touchscreen. Or am i missing some finer details? Of course me needing sleep could be the reason too.
I don't want a signature anymore. |

I think the major advantage is that you don't have to remove the flip like in the old P series. So, if you don't need it you just fold it over and if you need it later you don't have to rush back home to put it on.
Obviously, for the rest it would be updated specs.

not sure, but was this ever posted?

interesting that for the US it says X1 is released Oct. 6, 2008. That's obviously not true.
Seems to be a legit SE site though....

This is not the X1a, but the X1 which was released on the 6th. |

i see...
I just thought the info would be relative to the location I selected, which is the US. It indeed does eliminate certain models and accessories not to be released in the US. I guess it was too much to assume that they would put the corresponding information for the release info relative to the US as well.

Indeed it was, especially when considering that it's an internal website that is not supposed to be publicly available.

I really canīt find anything to get excited about in this thread. SE is going down from what i see. Windows Mobile and loads of buggy feature phones do not tell me anything.
Also, after they destroyed UIQ and choose to make use s60, then we might as well use the original and better s60 device manufacturer (yes, Nokia...never thought saying that). And i am considering the 5800, because like Eldar said, it is indeed a revolution, at that price, although i consider s60 to be inferior to UIQ, and despite the absence of a keyboard.
After 5 years, my love story with SE seem to be reaching an end...but we never know, maybe in a year things will be different.

Well, I agree on one thing repeated also by myself as mantra - why they screwed UIQ and now buy the technology.
As for Nokia Tube - sorry, WHERE is the revolution? This is not a device I think of...
Anyway, clearly lack of UIQ leaves un-filled gap, where everybody chooses different aspects and devices now.
As for SE, it's not so down... At least X1 seems to be a really good one,
actually it looks like almost complete device.
Honestly, I rather choose WM than S60 from Nokia (an it looks ugly too).
