@adara
I don't know when you last used a Windows Mobile Device, but you really don't know what you are talking about, I have had TyTN for a little over 36hrs. The only thing i think the P990 has that could be argued as being better is the Camera everything else the TyTN has much better spec's and usability and not forgetting a little killer app called Skype. But if you are happy with your P990 stick with it but IMO WM5 is very good indeed in fact surprisingly so.

I hope we are but who knows to be honest. I'm looking to get mine debranded for sure, but would prefer not to send my phone away and to do it myself

Sorry to be a pain, but which firmware are we talking about? Organizer?
My Voda P990, from the Voda shop says 'vanilla' ont he reciept and works with any sim. Is this normal? Does that mean I can somehow trick it into upgrading to newer firmware? |

Success - SEUnlock are the guys to unlock you Voda branded P990i. I had mine done yesterday, 10mins, £10 met the guy and goodbye Vodafone. Thanks - well recommended.
What a difference! I still cannot get the settings right to access my blueyonder email account from the message screen - so that may be a vodafone issue. I get internet ok.
I have still also had the calendar app do a KERN crash on me so there are still mem leaks or something. BUt boy am I glad to be rid of the Vodafone stuff.

I had my voda branded P990 debranded by Coxy. He offered an excellent service and i was only without my phone for less than 2 days.
The phone works perfectly now and is def alot faster than the R7 FW.
Had a slight problem with the Blackberry Service (didnt know that a new version was available - 3.45). Had called Voda initially to find out what was wrong and they suggested that the phone was broke and had to be taken back to the shop :S after searching the web, installed the new version and all works well now
What would we do without esato??

I emailed VF asking what the situation was regarding ensuring Vf branded handsets had the latest FW..
The reply was a typical brush off. I'm getting very tempted by the debranding services being offered now.
Reply..
Hello Mr. H*****,
Thanks for your email about the Firmware updates for your phone.
Firmware updates are basically manufacturer related. Vodafone don't have any updates for the new Firmware available for Sony Ericsson.
Mr. H******, for the latest Firmware updates you'll need to contact Sony Ericsson as they'll be in a better position to assist you further.
If there’s anything else I can do to help please reply to this email or click on 'Contact Us'.
Kind regards,

Either it is a typcial brush off, or VF have no idea what they are talking about... |

See posts earlier in this thread... it is *very* hard to speak to anyone at VF who knows what we're talking about.
And even when they seem to you can't trust what they say... a while ago I was told that they do not intend to use SEUS to distribute updates, a month later the R7 update (still the latest Voda one) appeared on SEUS...
I'll debrand as soon as I find someone local doing it, can't do without the phone even for 2 days! |
