guys EDGE does makes a lot of difference only if ur server is providing hi speed gprs.. But like airtel or hutch gprs speed is around 10kBps then ur phone wont give much more than that..

hey AlanDS, abhi19 may b rite.
just confirm it before buying the phone.(i.e., if u r buying a new phone only for this purpose)
perhaps u can borrow ne of ur friends phone which has edge and check the speed.
and 1 more thing since airtel provides live streaming.. the speed has to be good enough to stream video.. so according to me u may get speeds around 10 to 12KBps..on a edge phone i might b wrong m8 coz thats just my guess.

Hi,
If you get speed around 10-12KBps, then it's bcoz of EDGE. I am saying this bcoz currently my Nokia 6600 is giving only 1.5KB to 2.5KBps speed and I consider it as dead slow bcoz to load a page, it will take 40-50 seconds. That's why I decided to buy LG M4410. I will subscribe to Mobile Office next month which will give speed around 80-100KBps.
By the way, If you or your friend have LG M4410, please give me your reviews on this phone.

Alan,

I seriously doubt that the speeds are due to EDGE. I usually get speeds of 5-6 KBps at my home. But when I go to my girlfriend's house , it jumps to 8-10 KBps ( could be because of my girlfriend ) . We both have Win XP SP2 . Actually we have cloned systems ,except for my graphics card (Gainward PowerPack GeForce 7800GTX Golden Sample )

Try it at your friends house ( farther the better ).

Also, take a look at the following link

http://www.techtree.com/techt[....]sp?article_id=69884&cat_id=614

it is a review of LG M4410 .

hey dudes...iam sure that edge enabled phones does not give high data rate on regular gprs network unless the network activates the edge feature in data transmission..& also dont go in for lg m4410 as i have seen many bad reviews about the phone & many problems with the firmware..so if at all u want to go in for a good edge enabled phone go in for a now cheap nok 6630 or if u can afford much more higher models ..& one more thing ..hey spartan the video site u specified rocks..do share such wonderful sites...

Dear Friends,
Thanks for all your prompt replies.
I just called CC and they said that EDGE is available in Mobile Office. The speed is between 160-200kbps.
What would you say about this?

Dear kosmonov,
You are right. Airtel is giving EDGE to postpaid users. This is because, In Karnataka, Mobile Office is available for only postpaid connections and they charge very high price. i.e 600/-pm(truely moneysuckers).
A GPRS service executive of Airtel called me 3 months ago regarding GPRS connectivity problems on my N6100. At that time he told me to buy a EDGE enabled phone to gain high speed.
By the way, can anyone explain me, What is GPRS class 10? Does this make any difference in Data speed. LG M4410 have this option.
