Enough with the jokes, any news about the next G phone at all? Was this not supposed to be a G900 with GPS or what? Sorry for asking again but will there be a UIQ 3.3 update for the G900 at all?
Does anyone know if UIQ is being developed further i.e. UIQ 4 since 3.3 looks finished? The smape article says that would most likely focus on UIQ since it has little experience of WM, so where are the UIQ phones then? |

Granted we haven't seen X1 to the extent HTC is displaying Touch Pro but the Diamond which is supposed to be very similar to Touch Pro is a very nice device. It's not a matter of liking WM (and I don't) but I have serious concerns about SE's ability to support a first generation (for SE) WM device with which they have no previous experience. For that single reason alone I would choose Touch Pro.
However slim the chances seem, I am still hoping for an improved UIQ3 device to fill the 2 year gap until SF is ready.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

Lets just wait till September and see what happens. The only thing left to announce is some sort of UIQ device. We got enough Walkmans, Cybershot, and mid tier phones. A few UIQ High ends running 3.3 should let UIQ go out with a bang.

@baddass,
I would expect one, I mean they developed BeiBei, so you know they have done it. SE will launch a G series with GPS and UIQ 3.3 no doubt. Lets not forget it will 2 years before a decent SE new Symbian alliance phone will be out. The X1 I think will sell well, mind you with the news of a potential 200 thousand iPhone order from HSBC, then perhaps Win Mo business phones will one day be few and far between. |

It's alright SE you don't have to rush! I understand your economic crisis. Just release the canceled Paris for the mean time and I promise to be quiet for a year....

3.5mm jack won't be included for Walkman phones but you still have the option as each will come with an adapter.
This is crap!! Why SE keep excluding the 3.5mm jack on Walkman phones? When will SE realize that the "adapter" is annoying to use?
Geez..Wake up SE!!

im very confused, why people always condemn SE by using fasport and did not use 3.5mm jack. in other case people always praises Samsung and Lg phone while they use their propitary port also and no 3.5mm jack.
and as far as i know, propitary port didnt affect their sales. ro i didnt think SE had the reason to put 3.5mm jack in every of their lineup.

The only concern I see is that
a new UIQ device, let's say P,
should definately have better hardware
to have UiQ 3.3, GPS, Opera 9.5 etc.
So, will they really invest in that now?
I still remember they huge drop in income. |

this Eldar VS SE topic has been the talk of the mobile phone community for some time now....
but i think Eldar comments were all from the bottom of his heart. it's not like he's on payroll from a competitor, but he is making true comments based on what he thinks.
SE should hire this guy, oh wait.. i think he MIGHT be a trustful consultant commissioned to provde them with thoughts on current and upcoming products. |

Eldar already killed the C905 in his "preview"...and that was from the bottom of his heart?? |

No, it says will likely focus on unified Symbian. It also says there will probably be no more UIQ phones from |

The thing is, if phones from the Symbian Foundation aren't expected until 2010, then what are they going to plug the gap with?
If UIQ 3.3 is pretty much ready to go and let's face it, this was planned for the cancelled UIQ phones earlier in the year, then all it needs is competitive hardware.
Sure I know UIQ has a limited life now, but so does Series 60 as we know it.
Do you go with something you already know and control as a stop gap, or take a risk and shove out a S60 device, knowing that will change in a couple of years?
Personally I'm hoping for one last push on the UIQ front, sending out a phone that truly shows what the platform is/was capable of. I'm sure a large number of people would be happy with that for 18-24 months until the SF devices are ready.
I just hope that if there is an announcement in September, it's about a high end device *and* UIQ related |

Well S60 is not really gonna die because the symbian foundation will be backwards compatible to it. So everything that is working now on S60 will later work on a Symbian Foundation device.
But I think there will be at least one or two more UIQ devices (I hope so).

You are slightly inaccurate because the Symbian Foundation OS will be compatible with the current S60. Yes only S60 and not UIQ. Nokia wins!! |
