I haven't heard about the 907iCS rumor yet... I only heard about DoCoMo not doing a 907i series, instead naming it something else [but that was a few months ago]... Sounds interesting though. |

So do we know if the final UIQ phone will be Xperia branded or is the rumour about that referring to a separate device.
I think Xperia and UIQ will not cross each other. Xperia, if SE wants to keep consumers attracted to it, should keep it matched with Windows OS.
plain simple, X series should have Windows, taregted toward business oriented people (and not for the mass). while UIQ (P & G) series, shall be media rich, with tweaked interface to rival that of iPhone. i don't know if you agree with me, but if the company wants to attract people toward their UIQ series touch screen device, they have to optimize the menus to be easily managed by fingers. in other way, every menu/function/input should take the shape of relatively big rounded corners shaped highlighted icons.
i.e: menu shortcut on the desktop/inside menu/ etc.. should have a relatively wide halo shade, so that the user find it easy to touch and access everything else.
i'll try to sketch something that further explains my idea.
sorry for the long post |

prototype_bo,
What more than official statements about the matter do you need to realize that your theory isn't true?

Yes, there is the new 907i Series from DoCoMo coming soon, and the rumour says this time it won't be 'BRAVIA' branded - instead we will see a new 'Cyber-shot' - as Micks said, SEMCJ may modify 'Shiho' - removing the Xenon inner workings, and adding a modified Camera Module, so as to have the Optical Zoom. However, this is as yet unconfirmed - they may introduce the Xenon flash

Don't know really. Because Japanese handset are made for their 'walled garden' they are rarely talked about outside of the country. I do get updates every now and again and update the Japanese section of the thread.

My beloved w950 got stolen and i have been looking around for a new phone.
Reading eldar's G900 review i noticed he said he was completely hooked to the next phones in that series that would replace g900/700. Was he referring to paris n beibei that he later criticised or are there others and does anyone have info about them. |

Wait a moment,
recent leaks say something opposite.
At least they say about Hicaro,
UiQ smartphone to replace P1i. |

No, it says.
"September is looking like the next product announcement and this announcement will witness the last SE UIQ device and possibly the G705".
So it mentions two devices not one
Although, I still don't have a date for this annoucement. Any industry events in September?

Might be abit OT, but I just read here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8510_innov8-review-269p2.php
'Last September the major cellphone manufacturers Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG all agreed to start using the microUSB port as a common connectivity port. So far only Nokia has made some steps in that direction. Now Samsung seems to follow suit. The new Samsung microUSB port is used for both charging and data connections.'
It seems true as well. Sony Ericsson have 2 phones now (if I recall correctly) which use mini USB- The Xperia X1, and the J132. You know what else? Both of those handsets therefore use 3.5mm Jacks, something alot of people here have been longing for in SE handsets. Well, it looks like we will be seeing more of this then |

Why does so many people want UIQ in their phones. UIQ was good, but afaik UIQ is DEAD. I rarely hope that SE wont use it in any future phone. The should aim fore Google Android or Linux. |

You're funny...
Nothing finally indicates UIQ is dead.
And, as for Google or Linux, they're either still in some beta stage or are not really polished.
And who knows what Google really does?
So there's no case...
