on that topic, its also strange that they release the M600 using M2 but the P990 will use the older duo

I suppose because the P990 was a decided product much earlier than the M600/W950...

...or because the p990 has a camera and requires further memory, and the mspd is out in larger amounts to accomodate for those needs.
The w850 also, as its a music phone, more memory is required, mspd is in greater amounts.
You could say this for the k800i, but its mainly a camera phone, and SE only saw the need for memory for photos...
if that makes any sense^

Yeah, so if the P990 was decided around the same time as the M600, SE would have know that by the time they were released bigger M2's would have been released. The K800 being seen as mainly a camera phone they thought that they could get it out now/earlier, because it wouldn't absolutely require the bigger cards straight away. But then you could argue that taking lots of pictures requires a greater memory and of course the phone has many other functions aswell, music and video etc...

I dunno, we've been talking about the P990 since its announcement last October 10th and we've been talking about the M2 since a week or so before that
and I'm not sure the available capacity is the reason, well certainly it hasn't been in the past

I suggest it's demographics. Consumers will buy in to new formats in order to get the latest model much quicker than a business user will. You only have to look at the average company to see how out of date they can force themselves to be to save a few pennies. |

Hey Guys ...
The P990i (International) / P990c (China Mainland) and P990a (America's) are using the old duo becuase the P990 supports upto 8 GB of memory.
Since it is a PDA people would want to store lots of info. Right now the new M2's are only upto 1GB and that would be released around fall this yr.
So that's why the P990 supports the old format.
As well K790a is all set to be released as the site has also been updated.

Huh?! What does that mean?
Although M2's are new and have not yet got a 2GB or higher capacity stick out yet, there will be...

The K800i only supports up to 1gb anyway doesn't it or has that been changed now?

in regards to memory stick limits specified... tend to only commit to confirming compatibility with memory sticks that are actually announced, in the case of M2 the max announced is 1gb although they have mentioned 2gb ones later this year.
there is no doubt that it will support larger ones as they become available
the white paper actually says...

Hey Guys ...
Well the K800i supports upto 1GB because only 1GB is available. The fone itself supports upto 32GB as it was built with that in mind.
The previous fone's of SE can't support that much mem. as now all the fone's with the M2 will be able too.
P990 and W850 will be the last fone's using the old duo cards as with the old cards you can get upto 8 GB in the market. So more mem. was needed for these fone models.
Since with the new card formats inception as more and more space is needed within the fone for added techs. so you can't keep using the old cards, everything gets revamped in looking to tomorrow ...

I heard and read that the k800/k790 has new Java platform 7 wich could support applications for recording video in 320*240 resolution or even higher.... Is that true???
And I have a few more questions:
-How is the picture quality? Is it better than k750 pictures or is it like in those test models of k800/k790?
-Is the video recording at least little better than k750's?
-How is the overall speed of the phone (browsing pictures, watching videos, browsing menus, playing high quality 3d java apps and games....)
-Does it have any FW problems so far (restarting with white screen (like good old K750), blocking, etc.)
???
Please answer....
Thanx in advance!
Cheers!

@djordje1yu why don't you look in the thread Specifically started for K800 pics? That will answer your question. |

Thank you, I have already saw that, but, could any of the owners of the phone answer me to the rest of questions?
Thanx!
