Reading some of the arguments/discussions in this post I reckon some people out there that would buy a house brick if it had Sony Ericsson stamped on it. |

I'm a fan of many things, but won't allow people to get away with making mistakes. SE is making mistakes right now, and any proper fan would say so in order to make sure things are fixed.
The K850i, like the P990i, are disasters that run the risk of causing SE loads of lost sales ("I'm never buying a phone from SE again") for now, and the future. How long, for example, will it take for someone that now hates SE to give them a second chance?
The P990 was salvaged, eventually, and I believe the K850 will be too - but it's going to have an impact, without a doubt.
And there speaketh a fanboy!!

You really have hit the nail on the head, as someone that got really disappointed in what state SE saw fit to release their UIQ3 devices and after 2 firmwares could see the unacceptable course of events that would unfold.
So after 20 odd years of using Ericsson and SE products i started to dare start critizeing SE and their actions, not as many believe because i hate SE more because i hate what SE has become and found their actions inexcusable.
But unfortunately there are just to many SE fans here that just continue to believe SE always deliver the best in everything they do which really is no longer supported by the facts. This was once true but is no longer all there smart phones including those just released are still using the exact same tech and hardware as when the P990 was announced and an extra 64mb that is a necessity really doesn't cut it as an advancement either.
Even Moto with their first UIQ3 device manged to upgrade to the OMAP2420 chip and SE devices released after this have not. Now there is talk of the next P series using the OMAP 2420 when really it should use the series 3 chip as the series 2 chip is old. Maybe just maybe the next P series will bring me back to SE but an early adopter i definitely won't be not a chance. I will need to see actual users feedback that it functions as it should before taking the plunge. All of this i just find so sad for what once was easily the best Mobile phone company even if they didn't have the biggest market share or profits there devices guaranteed quality and were innovative, hopefully they can get back there and soon.

Darth Sidious said as I say now: Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen it!!!
Months ago I have said that the K850 will be a disaster because it has been delayed and that the launching price would be higher than a new N95,and it's exactly what happened,I went to several mobile shops today and the K850 new is at 630$ while the N95 (new edition with V20 fW) is for 540$!!!!!!
Ok I agree that the K850 is slimmer but the N95 has 0.4'' bigger screen, video recording 640*320 30fps,GPS,Wifi,Symbian.....
+ the new FW corrects the bigest problem of the N95 giving 25% more time for the battery and the new series which has the Nseries written on the back has a better slider mechanism...
So sorry SE I have been one of the most loyal customer since the T68 and always mocking nokia phones since then BUT now I will go for the N95,save 90$ and gain lot of features |

Hear hear ! Exactly the spirit which motivated our letter !
Although for many of those who signed it (myself included) it is a last ditch attempt to get them to fix the things they keep breaking. If they don't respond appropriately to our missive in word and in deed, many of us will be looking elsewhere for our next smartphone. |

SE really kicked Nokia into touch, when they launched products like the T68, T610, P800 and then the Walkman and Cyber-shot models.
The thing is, did SE expect Nokia to sit back and do nothing? They've been working hard to catch up and even without the big brand names SE have, they're doing a good job at capturing the imagination of users. N-series has been a major hit, and soon there will be the N-Gage relaunch, which will give Nokia another lead.
It's mad to think that the N82 is now able to do everything the K850 and W910 can do, in one box, and at a decent price. Meanwhile, SE decides that someone wanting a music phone doesn't want a decent camera or even a flash (W910)!
The worst thing is that I keep telling them this. I keep saying that people want the top end models to have all the features. By all means brand one phone one way, and the other one another way, but don't deliberately hold things back for the sake of marketing. That's what Sony does, but not what Sony Ericsson used to.
Sort out the build quality too! The K850i isn't well built and look at the S500/W580 with the dodgy keypads. In the rush to cut costs, they're making mistakes that probably cost more in the long run.

Hi all
I actually think SE have a new Corporate mantra which is
"We are SE and we just don't care we just won't listen or do what's fair eventually we will force all our users to go elsewhere."
and so far it looks like they are doing a really good job of achieving this.
I may well of been the first to express my disappointment and jump ship, but even i never thought it would get this bad. Never in my wildest dreams did i imagine things would get so bad that this many people on a pro SE forum would not only openly complain but actually have to resort to buying other brands devices.
As i have said for along time now dump Sony and bring back Ericsson as also pointed out by others as well this is all Sony's influence on Ericsson and not the other way round Sony have prostituted the good name of Ericsson IMO and what a great shame that is for what was once quite simply the best.
While I'm at just how disgusting is the fact that the new CEO in a whole month hasn't been able to respond in any way to the open letter he received voicing our many concerns. Not even an acknowledgement of receipt and thanks just as always silence outrageous behaviour seeing as what UIQ3 users had to pay for and suffer with.
It will be interesting to see if we actually get any answers to Mizzles 10 questions or just usual corporate BS answers if any.
Marc.

Wow, dogmann. You're really getting emotional over this.
Anyways, I do agree with you that Sony Ericsson is not doing that well this year. Only a few really good phones are released by Sony Ericsson this year. I'm sure they'll learn from their mistake and do much better next year. That is what I certainly hope for.

Having used and worked with Ericsson and then SE phones for so long how could i not? as it really does make me angry and that's me being reserved.

Well, I do think you should relax a little bit. Have fun with the Nokia N95 and forget about sony ericsson for a while.
I'm sure Sony Ericsson will find a solution to take them back to where Sony Ericsson belongs. Hopefully they've checked out how many complaints they've got from the forum which has the most sony ericsson fans ever. |

In case you hadn't noticed we are invisible and mute to SE all they are interested in is our money, not our input or feedback.

I did notice that. But doesn't all companies do that?
They've had lots of K850s returned to them because of the problems it had (I've never tried the K850, only read about the problems on the internet), they must've gotten the idea that the K850 isn't that good. The N82 is out now, with a much better price and more features than the K850.
More people will surely pick Nokia in this year and this will actually tell Sony Ericsson that their sales for this year aren't as good as before. Obviously, this will catch Sony Ericsson's attention. |

How do Nokia respond to questions put forth by Esato etc? Im curious as all these companies can learn alot from you guys that have been in the game forever and the power of a forum with user input from all over the world is free marketing info really. Are marketing strategies killing the technofreaks dreams?
