@adara
If you have P990i which has the first kind of security syatem on it, then it is possible to change the FW without affecting the CDA in any way, so it is possible that when the phone was flashed the CDA wasn't changed.
Therefore when SEUS checks your phone and recognises Voda CDA it automatically gives you the Voda Branded software. This is why when people get the phone debranded they should change the CDA to an non branded generic one, then they get any update that comes out in that region, not a branded version.

That is the lastest firmware for Vodafone handsets yes. The new firmware that is out for non-branded phones will be out for us soon (I hope!)

I have noticed the phone rather slow. Wi-fi has had an error and shut down, and internet settings had an error. The worst thing abotu that is thats all within 3 hrs of getting the phone!!
Are those all current firmware problems?
(Also, is it possible to change the 4 main icons on the homepage in FO mode) I want to get rid of one and put messages there.
Thanks

Yes, the phone is sloow and yes again, these errors are what we deal with since the beginning. What icons? There is a home screen where you can add/remove the items listed by clicking on the upper toolbar on day and then choose Homescreen Settings but on the 9 (not 4) icons screen you can't change anything.

Yep, I want to change the 4 icons on the homepage. I am not sure how I can do that though?

@adara
things to speed-up your P990:
- use the DarkWaves theme from Darkslyaer
- switch-off HWR
- Format Internal Drive and DO NOT restore from back-up
- delete all contents of Messages and re-set all settings
- don't use Push email

Thank you for the tips Jah.
One question: why would the DarkWaves theme be faster than the default ones? |

@adara
the Ketrix and DarkWave themes just seem to run faster. The DarkWaves theme is also much smaller (data size). |

Question:
P990i or T-Mobile MDA Vario II?
I always loved my P800/P900 and always had buggy software with Windows Mobile devices, but will my Voda P990 be more trouble than a WM device?

It's a windows machine man!!! No matter what symbian does, windows can do it 100 times worse... I still think P990 is the best phone out there but I will get an iPhone when it's out...
Any news of the vodafone firmware update?

@rossyrox
where did you get your phone debranded?
The shop in Edinburgh told me it could not be done. |
