Evidently my letter did the trick - I just had a phone call from Orange to apologise and say that I'll be getting a new phone delivered tomorrow |

Me and my misus got orange k750's on the same day - on orange. Last week. Mine has had endless freezings. Happens when the phone is left for quite a while so because i play with it alot this only happens overnight. Every monring i wake up - theres the clock but nothing can unfreeze the clock. Tried having no clock screensaver, reducing brightness etc.
Any way - upgraded the firmware to R1J002
Now i've gone 2 days without a freeze - YAY !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps - i used SEUS |

Out of interest, where does upgrading the firmware leave you if you have phone insurance?
Say I upgrade it then my phone breaks and I get a replacement will they take a look at the broken one and tell me I'm not actually covered because it doesn't have their firmware on? |

NO I don't think so because it is a proper sony ericsson service on the SE website and it mentions it in the handbook |

Even if your insurance wasn't valid (which it would be) then you still get a years warranty from Sony anyway!. |

So my replacement phone arrived yesterday and it's frozen twice since then. Evidently it has the same original version of the firmware on it.
I've spent an hour trying to upgrade it with SEUS and read 20 out of the 89 pages of the K750 Firmware Overview thread in the Software forum but it still doesn't work ;(
I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the proper USB driver (going through the whole holding c, plugging in and looking at Device Manage rigmarole) so I definitely have the right driver.
However, when I go to the SEUS page, tick all the checkboxes, click Next and....nothing happens. The applet doesn't even load. I've tried it a few times in both Firefox and IE 6.
The following error appears in the Java Console:
Quote:
| Sony Ericsson Update Service
Applet version: v1.23
DocumentBase:http://www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice/nocache/10242/
FilesDir:http://www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice/nocache/10242/
start()
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission user.home read) |
|
Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone who's used it before try going there again to see if the same thing happens please?
Cheers |

It seem the applet is not alowed to read user properties (such as user's account name, home directory etc.). Check your browser java security setting (or wherever that is set).

It turns out I needed a newer version of the Java runtime. Installing the latest one did the trick and my phone is now updated |
