Well, the p800 is supposed to be able to stream video isnt it?? that is only possible on UMTS (because of the speed)
so will the p800 be ready for UMTS then? |

Isn't GPRS capable of approx 115Kbps? I mean, If they can't even perfect that, I don't really wanna jump on the UMTS, WCDMA bandwagon... that would mean a whole change in infrastructure and terminals... for what? Bandwidth that 95% of the mobile population doesn't need, use, or even ask for.
Do you REALLY want video phones ALL the time? Imagine your boss calling you and knowing EXACTLY where you are! That sucks. Mobiles are for OUR convenience, not the caller's. |

no there is a big difference between Real-Time streaming video, and streaming video from a downloaded file. P800, 7650, 9210 are capable of the later one. Not the first one.
Also, don't forget the nice bitrate numbers for UMTS are just theoretical In hot spots, one might hopefully reach comfortable bitrate, but I would honestly not expect 2Mbits/s, but something more like a bit over 100kbits/s.
Vodafone said earlier they will provide about 60kbps, within UMTS coverage. |

@jplacson:
it's up to the user to decide what (s)he wants!
Although, was it on Esato I read that somebody starts fighting against these pop-up windows when browsing the web. These pop-up windows should strictly be forbidden, because they open against your own will, while making you pay the bandwidth to download them! |

I agree about pop ups. 3G and everything is going to depend a lot on the pricing structure...
As for the P800 not being that up to it, I think that as a pda it isn't going to make that much difference whether you have 3g speeds or just gprs, same goes for the still photos. it's the ability to download video streams, mp3s et cetera that would really love decent speed |

but my original point was if the p800 had 3g transcevier hardware would it be a proper 3g phone able to exploit the 3g services? |
