How can these 3g phones have any more functionality than the p800!
am i right in thinking that the p800 is a 3g phone that runs on gsm instead of wcdma?

so the p800 could be released as the p800wcdma with diffrent rf hardware?

let me know what you think!

i mean surely the only difference is a higher data bandwidth and the ability to locate a phone more precisely

every phone can, with change of hardware, become a 3G phone

but I understand your point... P800 is a hint of what we will see in the future with the upcoming 3G/UMTS phones.

Well, 'didn't mean to be rude. Sorry if I did.
But if one's expectations is not quite more than what we can see currently on the market, it's quite disappointing for 3G?

Technology apart which is very different from GSM, it should hopefully enrich the user's experience, and that's why the technology is here
3G should -in theory at least- allow you for Real-Time applications like video streaming, voice over IP like you could do today on your PC (though compared to GSM voice it's likely not too good ), interactive services like on-lime gaming, and so on.

2G and 2.5G is far from that.

Sure, color screen wise, P800 is close to 3G terminals, I'd expect, but what-you-can-do-with-it wise, it's far from that. Though first 3G terminals might be disappointing compared to the latest GSM phones, they will hopefully get better and better.

yeah reading super g's info along with that, it makes you think that current 2.5g phones are nowhere near 3g capability.

if the p800 had access to a 3g network it would be capable of running
all of the 3g functions listed?

all this is depressing me looking at my t68i right now so lo tech!
