p1000 to use windows? |

Most of the people I see using a high end smartphone these days have a HP pda with gsm added in. Because:
- the IT boys in the company are easily convinced, those pda's are closely related to what they buy and work with
- for the user the Outlook experience on the phone is very close to what they see on the office computer
These Windows pda's and the blackberry are the main threaths to Symbian based smartphones.
IF SE gives up Symbian in the next p1000 it would be sad but marketingwise maybe the best bet.

Ok one windows version is ok. Since there are other smartphones too, let us hope one of those will be UIQ3.

Well there isn't going to be any P1000 this year, that's for sure. I'd like to see how UIQ3 is going to turn out first. |

SE's hardware and design + WM5 is an unbeatable combination. I've been dreaming of it for 6 month now.

Look technology is moving on and it looks like pda type phones are looking for a stable OS to run off which I think symbian is probably fine for the Pxxxx series - but Microsoft will be highly considered as they’re potentially making a real mark in the phone industry! I say stick with the old for now! So it keeps Microsoft on there toes to keep developing till SE really has no choice

Regardless of OS type, I want these features in smartphone that I will buy: VGA or QVGA main screen, Voice Command, Assisted GPS, TV Reception, Access to Active Sync, Hand Writing Recognition and a pletora of useful features. All of those can be achieved only by using MS 5. MS 5 will be unbeatable OS from this coming September.
Bill Gate said that "Symbian is not the enemy of Microsoft, but Nokia is". The implication is that MS 5's goal is to sink Symbian and in the end Nokia. SE has to evade this fate and switch to the use of MS 5.
"If you can not fight them, join them". This will be the logic of future SE. |

Well, it will be good if SE releases 2 devices, one with UIQ and another with WM5. I'm now enjoying the best of both worlds with the P910i and the Xda II Mini...

I hightly doubt that. Symbian came out of the Epoc operating system, which was developed by Ericsson.(edited) We do not need another windows system on our phones. Who needs a crashing phone, when your computer does that for U?

1st off EPOC wasnt developed by Ericsson - although they were the 1st to use it in a cellphone. Epoc was created by Psion (do you remember the clamshell PDA's?!!), then the OS was sold after creating a design of a cellphone with a sliding carbon based sheet (the prototype look-alike was used in that alien show created by Gene Roddenberry - of Star Trek fame)
MS is actually pretty good with cellular OS, a lot better than their OS for computers. I have issues with them being the dominant player in the wireless market; remember how bad websites were coded - many still are - before Mozilla browser's became popular?! I dont want to see videos only coded in wmv format for wireless transmission. |

I don't mind if the next Pxxx series comes with WM5 as there will be more programs/games available, on the P910 we have got a version of MS office in it already so lets go the whole hog and have WM5 |
