The only sad thing is that phones made in france for some reason had exceptional transmition. And now mitsubishi and Alcatel are gone we're stuck with Sagem only. Sometimes you just need a phone that can pickup a signal where everything else can't. I think its sad too.

Well said. My old Alcatels held onto signals where my old ///, Motos and Nokias struggled.

@dragonfly: I'm with you on the Nokia-SE signal thing. Its just plain fact.

@david1975: Yes, it is always in the best interest of the consumer for there to exist as many players as possible in the market. Shame, really, this is.

most of my friend stop using alcatel since the phone they have normally malfunction just after the warranty period. Maybe its depends on region and location etc.

To me, alcatel always try hard to move into the mid range and high end range but no matter how hard they try..they are consider as low end phone.......

I see no reason for them to move back into phone making....unless they found a EMS or ODM tht offer dirt cheap price to make phone....just like philips...they pull out from phone making around 2002 or 2001....but now they are slowly making a come back.

Maybe when 3G is booming.....who knows.

it is always good to see more competition.

alcatel might have survived with a better logo (it looks like crap to me, and makes the phones look like crap), and some marketing to customers they want to attract, etc.
