I expect there is pretty much zero chance of a system like the star thing being implemented on this forum.

The 100post and one month thing is a fantastic idea and surely wouldn't be hard to do.
Still I don't expect to see it

Remember you can check out feedback at the A-ZoTS (link in my sig) where I have recently added some improvements including a feedback count for each user on there
There is also a negative feedback section so u can see who to avoid.

If a sysyem for "safe" trading were to be set in to action it would mean a lot of extra work. (As has been said allready)

But, listen to yourselves here; 1 month/100 posts. What a brill idea!
Very easy to set in to life; Don't buy of, or sell to, members with less than that. It's as simple as that.

Another thing I could see possible is a "Esato Certified Seller"-system.
If you are honest and have no intentions of cheating anyone you could register in a section viewable only to the moderators wit full name and contact details, accepting that your data will be give out to whoever might have a good rason for complaing on a trade executed by you. By regestring you get some sort of icon in your avatar showing that your intentions in a trade are honest.
(Hope I managed to say that the way I ment... )

But, all this is up to Laffen to decide.

But what's to stop people simply registering with false details?
Also avatar icons wouldn't be much use to people on HTML Light or WAP

Basically the best way to avoid scammers is avoid anything suspicious & stick to people you know you can trust.
Scammers tend to be newbies but newbies are not necessarily scammers, if people get too afraid then we won't develop any NEW trusted sellers.
There are ways of dealing with people to offer some reassurance such as cash on delivery, send copies of their ID etc. Also scammers are impatient & probably won't put much effort in so if u take time & ask them to provide lots of things & meet your conditions they may give up.

Most of all use your common sense and if it seems to good to be true then IT IS!

The 100 posts one month can be a self controlled feature and no need of further intervention. Just put it down as a code that you should follow to avoid scams.

Very true but still people may not follow it and get stung. Actual implementation of the limitation would stop the scammers making a FS: thread in the first place and it's highly unlikely they will take the time and effort to make 100 posts and wait a month, they'll just go elsewhere.

People who are afraid of scams can follow that. Once he is in the good books, then it definitely will not be an issue.

Forgive me for suggesting the obvious but why doesn't one of our [Very] Trusted Sellers (Merc_Man, PeterKay, JiggyJaggy etc), or Mik (if he feels he has the time and it would not be too much of an imposition in addition to maintaining the thread) write a guide to trading on the forum. It just needs to be a few sentences saying these things that have been listed on this thread already, and could either be independently sticky, or added to the existing A-ZoTS.

Simple and conveys the message...

Hi, I think some form of assurance/trust would be a good idea. I have been a member for quite a while now and log on every day, however I only have a few posts to my name.

But I think Esato is a fantastic forum and all the members I have dealt with have been fair and friendly.

to stop people registering with false details is easy, only send item to the address filed and no other.

@Rookwise
Great minds think alike.

Adding a wee bit to it then; by adding a fee to become a Registered seller I'd be happy to make a phonecall to those who wants the title. The fee would cover the cost of my call to you.
I'm just making sugestions here.
