Okay, I've had this trouble also. However, I figured it out, and believe me, it can be a real lifesaver when you are fixing up your phonebook (my PDA syncs with my phone, and it always sticks the "Work" category into the "Other" category for some reason.
What you do is this (done on a T616).
1. From the standby screen, press down to enter your phonebook.
2. Scroll to the contact that you want to fix.
3. Press "More", then select "Edit Contact".
4. Now, go to the category that you want to change, but do not highlight it. (You should still be able to move the cursor to other categories.)
5. Hold "*" down, and press "1" to cut, "2" to copy or "3" to paste.
There ya go!!!
