My guess is that the t610 is a decent phone for people that wants to use the phone to call with and don't care about the good stuff like the radio, camera etc...

And the T610 is cheaper

i think there are a few reasons 1 the t610 looks a lot better (personal opinion )
2 it had less basic bugs when it was launched unlike the k700, image your first/second experience of an se phone the battery dies after a day some one phones you and its not the name thats on the screen. basic unacceptable bugs that simple testing would have solved
3. perhaps most importantly competition in this sector is increasing all the time your competing not with 1 or 2 phones but with tens of phones

I agree with you. K700's look really put me back from getting one. Unlike the 1st time when I saw t610, I grabbed it immediately when it arrived at the shop. It doesn't have the 'business' look.

Alot of T610 users cant afford a K700.... if u let some1 who has a T610 use a K700 for a day... theyll neva want a T610.

If I just look at a screen of a T610 it puts me off...

Mind u The t610 was the cheapest and best phone with a camera when it came out...

Good looks, cheap, you can put all features to work. K7 got mp3 but 40mb is a bottle neck.

The only model that can beat the K7 for me is the . . . S700i ! I guess, practicality wise, the T68i is far much better than the T610 ! [addsig]

Why T610 is more popular than K700?

-- Because T610's direct competitor when it came out, the Nokia 7250i, was technologically inferior despite the FM radio. Small screen, no BT, ridiculously tiny RAM....

-- Because the K700i had more competitors when it came out -- 6230, 6600, Motorola E398.

-- Because T610 satisfied the basic needs of techy-ish users, who deem it extravagant to buy a new phone.

-- Because many T610 users have not seen K700is' crisp screen, used its T9, and heard its excellent radio and MP3 player. Otherwise I think they'll get themselves a K7!

i agree with you about this! the only better SE phone to me personally is the s700i. i want a k700i so bad still! and I am a t61-/t630 user and have been since the t610 came out. I cant wait for clara!!!! but lets not talk about that here;-)

Jojo - ah ha! The Symbian vs. non-symbian argument... But really, K700i's menu system is more a match to that of a Series 60 than that of a Series 40, like the 6230. Series 40 menu is so primitive.

In fact, I would say that the K700i's interface and phone functions are much more sophisticated than those of Series 60: Animated menu icons, list of LAST-TEXTED contacts (how convenient!), un-convoluted navigation. Series 60 doesn't have those! Can Series 60 beat the "More" button of K700i on standby mode? I don't think so.

One more thing, the disadvantage of the Nokia 6230 with that of the K7 is it's - screen resolution (quite poor), though the 6230 excel in the memory (external slot) capacity . . . [addsig]

Jojo -
The 6230 may have an external memory, BUT the size of the Java midlets that it can load is LIMITED! A big no-no for me because I use TequilaCat Bookreader, which requires a relatively unlimited midlet size.

The 6230's RAM is also very small, very toy-like.

Conversely, my K700i can load half of The Da Vinci Code with utmost ease. (I split that e-book in two.) And I can text / call while TequilaCat is running.
