rj, i feel the need to post this one here:
Let's look at this thing from a realistic point of view. VoiceStream/T-Mobile rates are very competitive and give the same or more than other carriers in their market. VoiceStream was one of the first to give free long distance and no roaming. In fact VoiceStream/T-Mobile is the only wireless service that gives free long distance and roaming on all their price points except for the 3000 minute regional plan. Bottom line is that you'll stay with a service that works for you and for the most part gives you what you want. If you're going to jump ship just because you think one market is getting prefferential treatment over another market you'll always be ready to jump. Even before this promotion for California/Nevada was announced VoiceStream offerred different rates for different markets. It's called marketing and competition. VoiceStream is not the only carrier that has different rates in different markets. |

619, that is part of every network's marketing ploy. Cingular offered great deals when they first opened in CA last year. the only downside is that you should have a 2-yr. contract. then after a few months, they didn't offer unlimited night and weekend anymore, they changed it to 3500 night and weekend.
i also think that VS will change their rate plans when they've established themselves in CA/NV market. |

" what's the point of having unlimited minutes when u can't use it to make an important call? "
...i think if you need to make an IMPORTANT phone call, u don't need a lot of minutes for it. CINGULAR has unlimited nights and weekends together with the anytime minutes being offered, not just night minutes.
[some off peak starts at 7pm for olympic plan 1997, 8pm for 1999, and 9PM for 2000 onwards ...]
... i know it sounds st*pid that i stated all these but i'm just trying to clear things up. u're asking 'what's the point' mah answer is
...the point is. =]

@waddie
cingular took almost 2 years before the 3500n/w, not a couple of months. people can chose whatever plan they want as long as it works right for them. alot of people talk sh*t about cingular's crappy service in CA so as a lot of people are talkin sh*t about voicestream's crappy service in the EASTCOAST, yeah, EASTcoast. even people in hawaii are beginning to consider cingular right now.
but yeah, hats off to voicestream's 24/7 costumer service

cingular charges $2.99 for 100 outgoing messages.
meaning, u can receive 83750138750138571039875831905731085 messages and send 100 messages.
voicestream's 500 messages for $2.99.
can't this be 1 outgoing and 499 incoming?
voicestream charges 1 txt message for AIM's instant message received, and 1 for any messages sent. and again, cingular doesnt.
voicestream offers 1000 anytime minutes [ promotional ] ain't $39.99 only has 500 anytime minutes in CHICAGO? cingular has 600 for $39.99

The reason I stated b4 that more anytime minutes is better than less anytime+unlimited nights is because 350 minutes is hardly enough for most people for a complete month. I know I use up more than that even b4 i reach the middle of my billing cycle. A lot of times my friends on campus using Cingular beg me to let let them use my phone coz they ran out of their 350 minutes even b4 the month is over and they need to make 'daytime' calls.
The truth of the matter is that if you have to make a call NOW.. then you have to make it now... not wait till 9pm or whatever to make the call. Coz the world doesnt wait for your nightime minutes. Unless ofcourse you like paying over-usage fees.

i guess it's the same as my situation with my friends from the eastcoast / hawaii
they have to use their parents' SPRINT phones just because they don't have night minutes.
be aware and don't be SINGLE-SIDED. you see, not ALL important phone calls happen in the day time. so ...

and yeah, it depends on the phone user too. for me, night time is the most important time of the day. peace

nah, i got 1000++ minutes on mah plan, unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited NIGHTS and weekends, free LD, FREE roaming. etc etc. =]
i don't care how much minutes these 2 companies offer, i took advantage of the offers before, im happy! LOL.
my advise is this:
if you think it's the right time to get a new phone with a new contract, do it! u never know maybe next month, another set of plans are to replace 'em.
PS: keep on talkin about this companies aiite? LOL
