Boba, the first time it fell into a bucket of water and completely submerged. I immediately took it out and left for drying. I also used a hair dryer! I switched it on 2 hours later and it started without any hitch! Next time, it fell into the wash basin while i was washing my hands. Since then the earphone have lost their optimum volume. But the phone still works.

Just emailed SE to see what they recommend.
I'll let you know the outcome!
Meanwhile, the hairdryer sounds like it might be worth a try, i've had it with the back off, battery out, led on paper towels for a couple of days, but no go.
Any suggestions as to why the red light on the joystick lights up when the charger is connected?
There is obviously some part of the circuitry working, but I thought the light meant the battery needed charging.
Could be indicating a problem with the connection maybe?
It does go off after an hour or so. |

Well, you've got to admire SE for their quick response, pity it seems it's had it though...

"Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.
With regards to your enquiry, unfortunately water damage is not covered by our warranty, and in our experience it also deems a phone irreparable. What you might consider doing is finding a local mobile phone retailer who carry out repairs on mobiles, they might look at it for you to see if it is salvageable. If you wish to refer to a Sony Ericsson service centre our postal service ACR Logistics can be reached on 01295 662101, however from experience ACR usually deem a water damaged phone irreparable and there can be a charge to have the phone returned to you." |

water damaged phones are easy to repair, the only things that maybe unrepairable are the battery or lcd. all you need to do is take the phone apart compleetely, down to cct board and stick the in meths over night, in the mornining let the dry and re assemble phone, then the phone should work a ok, unless yir battery has gone, ur screen might look a little wiered (3d effect).
i have fixed tonnes of phones like this. water is a kind enemy, coke is the real bastard. |

Maybe the dryer can be of GREAT help here mate Yup, it is very rare that electronic gadgets survive when (being unintentionally) soaked in the water . . .

You can open up the phone an dry it out using the hair dryer set on warm and aboyt 30cm away from the phone. It will dry out the phones components BUT slowly corrosion will creep in and then you may see some problems.
The LCD will definitely be dead, replace that, they are relatively cheap.
Good luck!
