There hasn't been a Nokia phone out on the market that leads in ANY way technologically... at ANY point. There was once an ad on a Nokia billboard here, 2 kids with 2 cans and a string... then the ad simply said, Nokia, Connecting People... I can't think of a better ad actually that describes Nokia's R&D, and technological capabilities.
I actually wouldn't have anything against them, if they just priced their phones accordingly... If they slashed prices by about 40-50%, that would be about accurate. But the fact that they are priced the same as SE, Motorola, etc... ugh...
With regards to the size of the 7650 and P800... yes, they are a tad big, actually, I have no problems, EXCEPT with their thickness... 1" is just too fat... I actually compared it to my other phone, an Ericsson R310...and it's about the same size, except much shorter. |

The ad with 2 boys, 2 cans and a string is an old Ericsson one and not Nokia, with the message : "It's all about communication between people, the rest is technology". |

for jplacson:
You've said somewhere (in this page ??) that the SDK might come together with the p800. Are you sure ?? Where does this info come from ??? |

really??? how old was that Ericsson ad? The Nokia ad that was here was out around 6 months ago.
re: SDK... press release for the P800 before stated a Java and C++ SDK. I don't think they meant a full app SDK... but C++ and Java would be enough to create small harmless apps I guess... I think they want to minimize virii creations for Symbian. |

yoo obviously know nothign about software development. Java or C++ are the onyl two programming languages you can use for the p800 and they are as "dangerous" as anything like that can be they arent stupid scripting languages or something. as for viri, i wouldnt worry about it, even if the p800 does very well there are still only gunna be a tiny number of them out on the market compared to the number of other cell phones we dont see nokia viruses so i doutb well se ep800 viruses.
as for the mention of the SDK in some press u saw. That was stated to show an SDK would be available to developers not that it would be included in the retail box. They say that to show thier support for 3rd party apps. |

And you obviously don't know nothing about viruscreation or the fundemental differences between a Nokia 3110 and a P800. The Nokias (most of them) have no way of loading external applications, the only way to get anything into such a phone is by an SMS or the phonebook. The P800 on the other hand is completly open for any program and the program does not have to be signed or aproved of before runing on the P800, therfore (in theory) easy to write virus. Lets hope that Symbian has put enough security into their operating system so there isn't possible to write any dangerous viruses.

OK, so P800 is a lot better... Where can I buy it? Nowhere? Well, 7650 has been out for a while now and a lot of people bought it. When will P800 com out? Who knows? You people are really funny... I could have compared in the same way P800 with something like that Motorola's Paragon II, and then the P800 would be the one getting its ass kicked...
You must feel very insecure about yourselves and your SE products, because this is just one of many threads on this forum where you keep persuading each other that SE is soooo much better than Nokia. If you think that SE is the best, why do you keep talking about how much Nokia sux all the time? It is pretty obvious to me that P800 is better specced than 7650. Why do you people feel the need to keep posting that on these forums is beyond me...

That was the most ridiculous thing.
P800 is a direct competitor to 7650; the fact that it is coming out later has no significance as to which of them as a fact is better. They were both designed to do about the same thing; but they show different solutions. The question is which achieves the design-goals the best and which gives the user the most utility.
Nobody here other than you seems to invest any emotions in this. If you have anything constructive to say, your welcome, but cut your aggressive posts out.
And, yes we agree with you, Nokia should receive credit for releasing 7650 sooner than P800. |
