How about:
SE V800
SE Z1010
Motorola E1000
Motorola A1000
In swedish "Mobil" magazine, the V800 won over the 6630, only by a nose lenght, but still.
Personally iīd pick E1000 or Z1010 but thatīs just me of course..

Only one of those you mentioned is really putting competition to the 6630, ie. Moto A1000. It's the only smartphone among those, along with the 6630. Others are just 3G phones with proprietary OS with basicly no extending possibilities or atleast very minor ones with Java. So, for those the competition ends there...
Summing myself up:
- A1000 and 6630 are 3G smartphones
- Other are just 3G phones

The 6680 is a better 3g handset. It is smaller, looks better and has a front camera for video calls. Unlike the 6630

You talk about the 6680 ? When the hell did that one come out? And does it also have EDGE ? For me this feature is quite important.A forward or back-ward facing camera is not that important because I will not be using the video-phone feature for the next year or two.A 262K screen is even more useles because for the slight improvement in picture quality, it kills the battery ! And battery time is more important in a 'mobile' IMHO.

But still, video calling is a luxury most cant afford in some countries, but the 6630 is a great phone even without that. It comes just behind the s700 and that too because the s700's cam is better, nothing more.
I read a comment by somebody in one site - "It looks like a pen*s"

*Sigh*
and whatīs wrong with non-smartphones? Not everybody wants one you know. If that were the case, the "ordinary" phones would be extinct, and as we both know, that is not the case. The world at large outside mobile forums has ample room for plain phones without Excel and Word capabilities

Getting back to the original question, no, the 6630 doesn't have any decent competition as of now.
The only product which comes close is the Motorola A1000, but it (in the UK at least) is crippled by 3's software customisations and walled garden.
After years of using Ericsson phones, I've bought myself a 6630. Apart from the dodgy looks and awkward ergonomics, it's a fantastic phone, very fast (unlike the terribly laggy S700) and above all, it runs Series 60.
And when T-Mobile launch their consumer 3G pricing structure, I can use UMTS speeds straight away.
No other manufacturers have anything like it announced let alone in the shops right now. As for Sony Ericsson, I'm afraid they're lagging behind. The sooner they announce a non-touchscreen small smartphone the better. |

do we have any prices in the uk for this phone yet?
also, if i got an unbranded phone and put a 3 sim in, would it hijack the internet and only allow access to 3s site?
what if i put a 2g sim in the phone, would it work?

Did I say there's something wrong with the non-smartphones? I based my answer to the original question, which is pretty much "Is there any competition to the 6630 in technical wise?". You suggested normal phones to be compared in technical wise with smartphones. And for sure non-smartphones are far behind in that area.
I don't think that the original question was about which phone will sell most, though I don't doubt that 6630 will sell more than V800 for example. |

Ok, youīre right. I did look at it from a personal point of view.
It may very well be that no phone matches the 6630 exactly.
The (my) point is that i donīt care. I am not a Symbian worshipper. At the end of the day, a phone is a phone.
I have an iPaq to serve my PDA-needs

Right, Symbian - despite of its popularity - is not match with the capability of Windows Mobile based PDA. |

I think 6630's main competition is the moto a1000, its a smartphone, unlike the v800 and the z1010.

Does anybody know if the A1000 has EDGE ? This is quite important because EDGE is getting implemented much faster then 3G ! ! ! Also can it be operated with one hand (S60 style) ? Belive me,if you are used to one hand operation you don't want to miss it ! Especially if you sort of a 'busy' type.
