Now that 3G becomes a reality, which other cellphones can access both networks GSM/3G ? This feature is going to be very important in the next few years untill 3G completely takes over.I know all about the 6630,but what about the competition?Surely this is a market opportunity not to be missed !

How about:
SE V800
SE Z1010
Motorola E1000
Motorola A1000

In swedish "Mobil" magazine, the V800 won over the 6630, only by a nose lenght, but still.
Personally iīd pick E1000 or Z1010 but thatīs just me of course..

Buddy, thanks for replying. All the phones you mentioned are great but they have one very important function missing (at least what concerns me) No EDGE ! ! ! That means I will have to settle for the slow GPRS when no 3G network ! Now I don't know about your country but here when no 3G I can use the more spread EDGE and if no EDGE then the by now standard, GPRS.If I should buy any of the models you talk then I will be stuck with either very fast or very slow ! Thanks anyway for bothering to answer !

No, thatīs correct (Sweden) I didnīt choose any of the above phones for one single feature either, those are phones that i have either owned (Z1010) or would consider actually buying.
As for Nokia, i donīt doubt that theyīre good phones, i will just wait until they hire designers before i investegate them further..

Just about all the GSM Networks support EDGE, with minor modifications, and they will implement it during this year. Some earlyer then others.Just ask them about it.Don't talk to the lady at reception, she might not know what you talk about.Edge is gprs on steroides and it was envisioned when gprs has been designed. In your country might also be know as "egprs" or "wireless isdn".You can access edge with a gprs handset and vice-versa.The speed will default to standard gprs thou. You need to have a edge upgraded cell and network to use the high speed ! Is a pity SE does not support it as yet :-(

the 6630 is ok imho but one big downer on it... the bloody camera cradle u have to sit it in to make video calls! thats the main feature of 3G VIDEO CALLS! and its only nokia who miss the two cameras on all their 3g handsets like the 7600 and the 6630...

its a huge huge thing to miss out and it will always stop people from buying it...

i am not so sure that a lack of video calls will stop people buying the phone. dont forget you need someone else you know to have a compatible handset and the cost of video calling is still 5 times more than a normal call, so in the short term i doubt the lack of vid call would put every potential customer off.also a lot of people seem more interested in the faster access to content and the increase in content they can get because of 3g.certainly in the long term i wold agree as in the uk i doubt we will have a chose over 2g or 3g network as i beilive within the next 3 years you will only be able to buy a 3g phone and nothing else, if nokia were to keep vid calls from there phone s they would lose out big time

Still wish Nokia would re-hire or find new designers....

the cost of the video calls in the UK on same network is the same as a standard cross network call... thats 35p and cross network calls r 55p

yes they r more expensive than normal calls but jus think of what u could do on them!!! i know from personal experience an its a lot more fun seein the person...

But still, video calling is a luxury most cant afford in some countries, but the 6630 is a great phone even without that. It comes just behind the s700 and that too because the s700's cam is better, nothing more.

I read a comment by somebody in one site - "It looks like a pen*s"

Well one thing is for sure - Nokia can't keep up production of the mighty 6630, so huge is the demand ! Some world leading networks market the 6630 as there "top cell" for the 3G network ! Not even Nokia expected such a huge popularity.
