Pairing a bt headset with a PC - any success stories? |

And yet another glitch...
I can't get my PC Sync up and running after having installed MSI with Widcomm drivers. PC Sync pretends there are no bluetooth phones around... I guess the problem may be in conflicting BT Serial Ports, any ideas how to fix this? |

also, if you are using yr laptop for business, then think of these things:
1.mac it starts up quicker: somebody needs to check a file. you turn yr pc on. with all that anti-virus shite the company puts on it to protect you from yr fellow winbloz world, you with yr mac start up in under 55 secs, access the file, have the info, continue with the meeting, or the conversation in the taxi, or with yr meal. your billgates machine hasnt even gotten to the login screen yet.
2. virtually unhackable. hotel lans are great to see who is on the net. read yr boss's resume on his machine. feerlessly send out yr own without having it read.
3. 95% of the company people who come out to our asian offices have not a clue as to how to set up their machines for anything except the pre-set up lan connection. setting it up to be able to access the widely available wi-fi lans in place? they havent a clue. mac: two lines of numbers, and yr on.
so, if you are serious about business, or gaining competitive advantage versus yr competetion, get a mac and get serious.
architect cadcam/engineering pro-e/even sap can run on a mac/

You guys misunderstand me. My company issues me an IBM laptop. And we use software that does not exist in Mac versions. To do my job, I need a PC. Believe me. |

Did not mean to start a Mac revolution here, but Niji is right. Any boss that gives you a Windoze PC can't really say that he is looking out for your best interest. Seriously though. Wish I could help more. BT works 99.99999999999999999999999999999999% flawless on Mac's. The other .0000000000000000000000000000000% is when it is not tunred on.

Funny to see those MAC-PC "wars" here! C'mon, guys, PCs and MACs are different beasts, that's it. It's unfare to say that one is definitely better(worse) than the other. I have always been a PC user, and I do recogize MAC's advantages, but I am also aware of its drawbacks.
MAC rulez you say? Well, fine, but just remember the worldwide sales and market share numbers. Or price a PC and a MAC with comparable computing power and periferal. You can blame Bill and others for unfare competition, but you can't unfairly win most of the market with a complete and hopeless sh#t!
Having said that, may I humbly repeat my question about PC Suite/Widcomm conflict, described earlier? Has anyone had similar problems?

@hummer--come on now, why do you have to interrupt a perfectly futile argument with _questions_? 
You have to make sure that you open the connection to the virtual  serial port before trying to sync, and yes, you need to make sure that the serial port that the widcomm drivers is trying to use is the one enabled for use. When the serial port is open you should have two green arrows superimposed over the serial port icon in your bluetooth places window. I don't have my home _PC_ in front of me, so I can't give you a keystroke-by-keystroke guide at the moment, but if you've gone that far and it isn't working, let me know.
PS - that's different from doing it with IR, which automatically opens the connection when you start synching.

Sorry to burst your bubbles... company I work for issues Macs.
I always get the heavyweight desktops... I'm currently assigned the Dual-CPU G5 with all the trimmings... and sad to say, my personal custom PC workstation at home can run circles around the thing... at half the cost. (I'm not even factoring in the price of the panoramic LCD that they got with the G5..since I'm using a CRT at home)
Macs are fine... I have nothing against them... other than their price.
I'd personally own a 12" Powerbook if I had cash to spare (laptops aren't enough for my work since I do videos...which Macs are supposed to specialize in) Any cash I have goes to additional storage arrays and other upgrades for my business PC... and at work, same goes for the requests I put in for the G5... hard drives...hard drives... hard drives... hehehehe
The one thing I hate about Macs is their closed system. I need to go through so much crap just to tweak them exactly the way I want...and get rid of all the annoying animations and crap they dump into OSX.
I do like their filing system though... kinda messy if you let OSX do it's own thing... but it's more efficient than any MS product could ever hope to be.
Mac Bluetooth is great. iSync and SE are a perfect match...much better than Outlook. (Although Outlook syncs more stuff... there are more stability issues with Outlook than iSync)
Oh... main gripe with Macs? Their stupid keyboards and mice. For the price they charge... they give you an annoying 1 button mouse that may look cute... but doesn't track as well as Logitech's optical mice (But then, if I get a Logitech mouse... it doesn't look as good as the Mac mouse... Grrrrrrr....)
And the keyboards are absolute crap... I HATE MAC DESKTOP KEYBOARDS!!!! They're so cramped... And they don't make ergo keyboards that go with the look of the G5!!!!
Sigh... I love the way my G5 looks... LCD display and all... the ergonomics just suck.
I kinda have a feeling Mac will go the way of IBM and excel in laptops more than desktops.
I'm sure a majority of Mac users here own and use Powerbooks more than a G4 or G5.
Just like most IBM users are Thinkpad users than their crappy Net-whatever desktops. (IBM servers not counted)
But to be honest, for SE owners? Get a Powerbook (matches perfectly with a K700i or P910i hehehe)
With regards to the original post... yes I have paired my headset with my PC.. I have a Billionton plug. It supports the headset and audio gateway profiles.
The headset profile turns your PC into a giant speakerphone/headset for your phone...while the audio gateway profile uses your BT headset at a mic/speaker combo. I can use my headset on MSN, and Yahoo... you just have to set them as your preferred audio device in the mixer console.
I specifically got the Billionton because it had the audio profiles. 3Com's doesn't have it. And this isn't a software feature...it's a chipset feature that's built into the BT chip on the plug. Not all plugs have the audio profiles.

double click the phone connection monitor on the task bar,if a comm 500 port is checked un check it.
