its certainly a point to consider and one that is up to the individual members to decide and there are arguments both ways of course

I personally hotlink where possible so as to (partly) avoid potential copyright issues by taking a copy of the image myself and thus breaking the link to the possible owner

edit: I guess what I was trying to say here, though not very articulately, was "is stealing bad width better or worse than stealing images?"

If you've found a really big image on the web (a PC wallpaper for example) and wanna post it, be sure to use HTML image tags with a width attribute:

<img src="url-of-image" width="500">

This reduces the risk of the image completly FUBARing the page and generally annoying me.

(You could also upload it to the esato image uploader which will resize it to the proper width dimensions anyway )

you could also resize it yourself as to not pull the page out of proportion

Using the width="500" wouldn't drag the page out of proportion if you are hotlinking a large image.

it does however still download for example a 1600 x 1200 picture and only display it at 500.. Which in itself is a waste of download time..

As long as the news pictures keep coming, firewalled where i am so can't view them unless they're on esato

Bit of topic but why not inlcuding a "please refrain of quoting the whole post to reply to one question just under the same post" ?

While on wap it's sometimes annoying to see whole posts that are quoted, re-quoted and re-re-quoted ...

Oh yes! The 'quote' thing! I guess this will only 'best' apply on private messages, to freshen the sendee re: certain topics/issues discussed!

Quoting is useful when it is not immediately obvious to which of the preceding posts or which part of the preceding post(s) one is responding. Btw it strikes of as funny to quote a post to make a point of how quoting might be unnecessary ;-)

Vlammetje - Me kinda confused with your last post, as the words looks like 'tongue-twisters' . . . have to re-read it again - 3x before finally getting your thought !
