I know all about his contributions. I've also worked in the physical disability field for over 10 years so I actually know what I'm talking about. Perhaps you'd find it acceptable to find a cure for blackness or homosexuallity? The issue is Reeve's inability to accept himself as he was. As such he did a great disservice to disability politics as well as deluding himself.

Why would i want to find a cure for "blackness"

Reeve was in an accident. You cant cure an accident. You can recover. And he didnt feel sorry for himself, he got on with it. He wasnt disabled, he was paralysed in an accident.

@absinthebri

I really do not want to engage in an argument here, but I would like to point out that where you see delusion I see hope. Imagine what the world would be like if we were to accept what appeared to be insurmountable odds; no Pyramids, no victory at Trafalgar, no space travel, no evacuation at Dunkirk, no victory against Nazism; I'd rather not live in that sort of world thank you very much.
I have great respect for anyone who fights on regardless of the odds, bravo I say; I'd rather die fighting than give in.

@Scots et al - I'm not arguing with anyone. Which would be preferable, "curing" black people of their colour or challenging racism? Do you think it's better to "cure" women of their femininity or to celebrate their uniqueness? Why do you find it hard to accept the concept of being proud and disabled? Why do you see disability as an affliction rather than seeing the issue as one of a society that oppresses people?

Why meths? I'm not the one with the comprehension deficit. Perhaps you'd like to speculate by what you think you mean by "paralysis" and "disability"... Feel free to contact your local organisation of disabled people for an opinion on all these matters.

do we really need an argument in this thread?

Can't you open another thread and continue the discussion there?

RIP Christopher Reeve

Vlammetje - I know you are just one of the finest theme 'curators' here, as a way of respect - to Mr. Superman, can you make him some themes for the K700i fone models, if possible, for the latest release as well - S700? Just a request/suggestion here my friend . . . . .

I agree with meths on that; I never think of Superman as anyone but Christopher Reeve.
