Christopher Reeve, the star of the "Superman" movies whose near-fatal riding accident nine years ago turned him into a worldwide advocate for spinal cord research, died Sunday of heart failure, his publicist said today. He was 52.

It's a sad loss. I only wish he had done more for the rights of disabled people rather than living with the false belief he was ever going to recover from his injurys.

@absinthebri

He had recovered feeling in various parts of his body and could move one of his fingers again. He was also able to breath independently for protracted periods of time. He accomplished this through willpower. Before his death I never for one moment had any doubt that he would walk again, his sheer determination was superhuman; I think that if anyone deserves the title of 'superman' it is Christopher Reeve.

I see IMDB have updated his details now to show his date of death

He was certainly a perfect fit for the Superman part and I did like him in the Aviator but I didn't think much of the parts he got until his wheelchair part in the Hitchcock remake of "Rear Window"

absinthe, do you know how much research and development he persoanlly funded and partook in? No? Maybe you should look it up before making such a statement.
