Mine was bought unbranded and sim-free off Ebay - perhaps it's only the branded ones that makes the shutter noise?

Not so. I've got a horrible Voda one and even I can shut the stupid sound off on that, can't have mp3 ringtones, but then you can't have everything in the world can you.

On the oldest of firmware. just turn the volume to 0 in the edit profile and so as not to miss any important calls turn the increasing ring on. Done no shutter sound but still rings when someone calls.

I have an unbranded UK K700i and no matter what i do, there is always a shutter sound. No big deal anyway, the camera is more for fun than anything. All my contact pictures are from higher resolution photos and imported onto the phone.

K700 with R2Exxx R2Axxx firmware doesn't have shutter sound when it is in silent model.

For all versions, it is said in some forum that you can take pictures without sound when you are in a call. So the trick is: dial a toll free number which will be automatically answered, then take a picture.

From my experience with my phone is that when i put the phone in silentmode by holding the "C", the camera makes noise. But when i put my phone in profile "Meeting", then the camera doesn't make noise...

Ever tried that one?

Thought that with the newest fw (R2L) your not able to turn down shutter sound. Even with meeting profile or silent mode.

Here is a nice trick to turn the shutter noise off even if its not supported by ur network or anything else...

Set Volume to 0 and keep the incresing ring on, so that it doesn't make noise while taking pictures and u can hear the ring when some1 calls...

Cheers....
