I own an orange R310s... I love it. I use it when I go out of town, to the beach or anywhere my P800 might not like to go.
Even though it's not rated for it, the R310 can handle temporary submersion in fresh water... salt water will corrode the contacts at the bottom of the phone. Other than that... the phone is fine.
Works like the T28s. I have a Bluetooth DBA-10 adapter for my R310s to use with my HBH-30 headset. No, the DBA-10 is NOT waterproof.... disconnect it when you're entering rough areas.
When out of town, my P800, and DBA-10 are housed in the waterproof canister that came with the R310s. |

r250........that's really a heavy duty phone but it's function is like an er-a1018 plus radio (not the fm radio) .....it is really big and heavy and has a metal part on it's part of the casing. just have the feel for the said phone when i borrowed the r250 used by an ericsson personnel during the lunching of er-r310 here in the phils.
*note: radio feature of that phone is network dependent...better get r310. |

It depends on what you want from the phone. The Ericsson R310 is the best when it comes to water/shock/dust resistant. I survives almost everything. I have a friend that have the R310 as his work phone (he works as carpenter. He has dropped the phone from the third floor at a construction site and it works perfect. He has also dropped it in water. That phone has had a hard life
He have had the same phone for 2 years, ok, it looks a bit scratched etc but it still works perfectly.
I had the Siemens ME45 for a while and while it has much more features than the other phones, I don't think it would handle water or dust very well... It's not much better than a normal phone.
The Nokia 5210 doesn't handle water or dust better than a normal phone either. Nokia even says so in the manual.
The R250 is huge
If you want features buy a Siemens ME45 (but you might as well buy a standard phone cause it's not that robust). If you want durable phone go for the R310 in this category it's in a league of it's own. |

I agree that the R310s is the best phone. I had one for 'bout a year, and it survived everything from rough environments to cold water. I'm mad at myself for selling it, now it's almost impossible to find one here... Would really like to have one again.....!
The Nokia 5210 is real shit! I've had one myself and couldn't stand the nasty thing. Happy for selling it (it also has really bad battery capacity). Two of my friends have 5210:s and they have for some reason dropped their phones from a distance of app. 50 centimeters and they stopped working. Nokia service-center wasn't even able to repair one of them.... |

I have both Ericssons, have had the ME45
There´s no competition really.. the ME45 is a Toyota SUV and the Ericssons are Humvees.
Do you want the looks or the performance?
The Nokia is not even worth mentioning, i have seen one split in two after a drop and skid at a parking lot.. pityful really.. How´s it supposed to keep dust and water out when it has problems staying in one piece?
Bottom line: The R310s and R250s deliver the goods, they don´t do any tricks like playing polytones or have color displays, but if you´re going to cross a river or plan on dropping it in mud there´s really no competition..
