The fine looks more sharp, but a bit more grainy also...so, i think the normal setting should be used for nigh/indoor photos, to decrease the big amounts of noise those type photos have in k700.

Fine uses less compression that's why it shows more details (grainy specially in poor lighting). Normal mode uses more compression so a lot of details will appear to be patches of plain blocks (blurry). I always use fine as it gives you a more accurate detail of textures. In the two photos in the first page you can see the difference in the texture of the floor and the pot.
