I have to agree with trentors

A midisynthesizer is made of sampled sounds - each channel plays an instrument - and the synthesizer needs to reproduce the sound of each instrument as close to the real sound as possible.

The T610 32 channel synthesizer did an excellent job of reproducing the sounds of the instruments, it had very good samples. If you played a midi on your computer using a good sound card you can hear how it should sound - and the T610 came very close to this.
A piano sounded like a piano, a highhat sounded like a highhat etc.
A quality midi played on a quality synthesizer can sound almost as if it were a real orchestra.

The new 40 channel synthesizer in the K700 does not reproduce the instrumentsounds equally good. Sure it has 40 channels for instruments - but that does not help when each sampled instrument does not sound right.

Sure its much better than the Nokia synthesizers (which has allways been utter crap) and sure we have alot of space and mp3 for ringtones - but still I was also dissapointed that they went from a great synthesizer in T610 to a mediocre one in K700. They shouldent have.

They should have just kept the one used in T610 - but I suspect they got a good deal (cheaper) on the new 40 channel synthesizers (they are propably the same used in Samsung phones - they sound identical) and since most people know nothing of this subject they automatically assume a 40 channel synthesizer is better than a 32 channel and therefore it looks better for S//E on the spec sheets of the phone.

I have some very highquality midis that I have optimized - they sound wonderfull on my computer using semipro midi equipment - they also sound wonderfull on my T610 which proves the quality of this syntheziser, I would have liked to still use them but they dont sound nearly as good on the K700 and that is a shame.

Its not a hughe problem, most people cant hear the difference anyways - they think Nokias sound good - hehe - and we do have mp3 we can use now - so I can live with it but still its a shame.

I think, T630 polyringtone is still way the best.
But, I found many polyringtones that sound better in K700 than in T630.

I've heard Z1010i has 74-chord poliphonic tone. I just want to know how it's like. [addsig]
