In my k700 they are only low-volume when i listen to them through the filemanager or the mediaplayer, when they plays at an incomming call they are much louder (way louder than my old t610) i don't know why SE have done it this way?

@ Mrb18 - same for me too, which is great as far as I'm concerned. I always found the SMS message tones on my T610 far too quiet. I often wondered if this could be because the T610 was Orange branded as my friend's T610 on O2 was much louder. I could never hear when a message had been delivered. I spent hours on the phone to SE and various repair centres asking them if they could alter the software so that the tones were louder. The problem very nearly prevented me from buying the K700 until I had physically tested the loudness of the tones. Now I'm happy with the K700 - I can hear the message tones from the other end of the house! But only when a message [or call] is incoming. When playing them from file manager they are much quieter. [Before anyone asks me why I want them so loud, I'm a bit deaf and need them turned right up.]

No they're not as good as T6x0 as it has different sounds that make up the MIDIs, if u know what I mean.
BUT what the hell does it matter when it can use MP3s!!!

Yes they're better than Nokias.
Yes they're clear but the sound samples are not as good as those on T6x0s so the tones don't sound as good.

The MP3s are very clear & noticeably better than any Nokia, pretty much on par with P-Series!

The polys on the K700 is bad. They sound like Samsung or NEC.

People has no sense of sound quality if they claim otherwise. Take a MIDI with a piano and listen to it on the T610 - it sounds like a piano. On the K700 it sounds...well not like a piano A cheap toy keyboard that does not have real samples perhaps.

Sure we have MP3 now, but it is a HUGE dissapointment that SE have sunk to the level of the other phone-makers. Going from being far superior to mediocre is a wrong development!!!!!

But still better than Nokia phones!

I don't see it as a problem as I haven't played a MIDI on it since testing them out when I got it, just as I haven't got any MIDIs on my P900. What's the point?

If u particularly liked a MIDI from a T6x0 that isn't available as an MP3 you could just record the T6x0 playing it somehow & convert it to MP3!

The point is storage-space, and the fact that MIDI's are free (no copyright on them).

Besides, MIDI gives you options like recording a sequence on a keyboard or on your computer and play it back on your phone.

Well I've never paid for an MP3 either & it's just as easy to make your own MP3 on a computer as it is to make a MIDI if not easier.

Also I see 41MB as plenty of room for lots of MP3 clips

With regards to storage space for MP3 files, I've downloaded some free software from download.com that allows you to trim MP3 files to ringtone length.

Actually I think the problem is that when the synth in the phone gets better, it reveals how bad the .MIDI really sounds
I had a scottish bagpipe tune in my Siemens S55 that sounded very good in the phone, but on the computer, and in t610/P900/K700 itīs absolute crap! I think the lesser quality synth in the S55 makes the sound fuzzy and distorted to the point that it sounds more like bagpipes than it does when played by a better synth/sound processor.
Nokias are a different kettle of fish altogether They donīt seem to follow MIDI standard when it comes to instruments/voices.. i have edited a few Nokia tunes and had to map the tracks to different instruments/voices to make it work at all!
Re. having all signals as mp3īs thatīs fine of course, unless you need the space for other things or put your priority on say movies and donīt really give a toss about signals That way you could have a couple of .IMYīs and save a bundle of space!
